This was after my fill up yesterday at home then the second shot was after getting to work today. So with a 641 mile range when I got to work I ended with 602 miles but look at my odometer I went exactly 60 miles and got 61.2 miles a gallon to get to work, that's amazing.

My trick is not letting the motor get above 1600 RPM, my normal cruising RPM IS around 1400 that's key to getting 60 mpg. 1400 RPM is 50 MPH for me.

Well I crushed my record coming home from work today, it used to be 64 mpg one way. When I parked the Civic I took this shot of my dashboard just now at 67.9 mpg one way. Look at the numbers from my previous post of my drive to work and compare. It seems impossible I get more and more out of my Honda.

Terrific, how did you got this far, did you reduced RPM/average speed a little bit?

What's your tire pressure?

Tire pressure is 44 psi average mph is 40 @ almost 17 hour drive time total with no air-conditioning. Normally RPM is around 1350-1400

Well I haven't posted anything in awhile because I've been on vacation and didn't need the Civic until today and when I filled up I surpassed my record and reached my goal of 700 miles a tank, we'll one mile off but I'll go over that next week.

Today was time to refuel and I broke another record again. This time with picks of price at the pump and gallons pumped in and my Civics computer read out of total time used before I filled up with average mph and a pick of my average mpg per tank.

Lol, your valves have to have a lot of carbon buildup.

From what I understand all direct injection motors have that issue on the top side of the valves and there's no easy fix without taking off the head and cleaning them. If I ever have an issue with the valves I'll post picks but I bet I won't ever have problems. And from my understanding is the symptoms of bad carbon buildup on the valves and valve seats are ruff idle at cold start up and poor fuel economy and obviously I don't have a fuel economy issue and I have never had a ruff idle at cold start-up.

I average 5.6-6L/100km on my normal backroad trips and about 5.6-6.2 on highway doing 115 or 125km/h depending on speed limit. I found there is a big difference between 115 and 125 in terms of fuel efficiency.
I think you post fits this thread pretty good. I noticed the same thing 115 to 125 km/h is a big difference. Results get even significantly better when staying below 100 km/h

I hope I haven't had you ask that question before. What engine oil are you using? I saw a remarkable difference between the expensive 0W-20 Honda Type 2.0 engine oil and other engine oils. With the 0W-20 Honda engine oil, fuel economy gets better.

I've been running amsoil 5W-30 since 5000km, didn't notice a mileage decrease.

@Benster
Are you tracking your fuel economy on something like fuelly? If yes, there should be at least a little difference in fuel consumption.
