I’m just at 2,000 miles in my 19 CTR. Already bought 3 quarts of AC Delco modified synchromesh . I doubt it would hurt taking out the OEM fluid this early, can it ?

Did mine as well, should be fine. In fact it shifts so much smoother now

Did you replace the drain crush washer? If so, where did you pick it up?
I did. One of the OEM Honda parts websites. Got it along with some other random parts I needed to justify the shipping cost.

Do you happen to know if the washer is the same as the engine oil washer? I have a few of those.
thanks

The one for the transmission is much bigger (20mm).

Their site is down for maintenance, but Dimple makes a magnetic plug that will work for our cars (M20x1.5x12) that comes with an appropriate crush washer.

here’s a link to another MTF change thread that may also be helpful. A user talks about said Dimple plug.

The Honda MTF is good, but any of the other three shown in this list result in much smoother shifting:
1. Amsoil Synchromesh
2. Royal Purple Synchromax
3. AC Delco Sychromesh Friction Modified (Part 10-4014) - updated Part Number

Any of these (personal preference) are very good alternatives. Also, do not overfill the gear box. While on a flat surface, when the MTF begins to drip slowly from the check-fill hole, then stop adding MTF. More fluid will not result in better operation.

Why’d you get ac delco over Amsoil?
I used amsoil in my 18 si. After doing lots of research on the topic, I’ve seen more people prefer the GM synromesh aka AC Delco over amsoil in the CTR. I use amsoil signature series for engine oil though.

No. I can't think of any scenario where changing the fluids "too soon" is actually a bad thing.

Inb4 "but muh break-in oil!"
