Ambient air temp sensor showing hyphens

My 2018 civic coupe ex-t is showing 3 hyphens for the outside air temperature and I’ve replaced the ambient sensor and climate control computer next to the blower motor/cabin filter box, anyone else have this issue? I just ran out of warranty so I haven’t brought it to the dealer just yet

I'm guessing they need to be programmed when replaced.
That very well could be the case but I had seen a video online and they did not have to so I’m not too sure where to go from here, I guess it’s sounding like the dealership!

You probably have a stored DTC in the climate control module as a result of the swap; If you have something that can scan body modules like an Autel AP200 you should be able to find and reset it, if not you could try a battery pull for 15 minutes or so to allow everything to discharge and hopefully reset.

Nothing mentioned re. programming the sensor; You can calibrate it to your preference in the headunit, and can function test / calibrate by dunking it in some ice water:
