I think they probably drove it a little too hard after tuning it. Plus the money shift tearing the teeth off the gears in the tranny... Well. They are one lucky SOB since the dealership already promised to repair it under warranty.

Some gems:

How do they cover this abuse but saw that a type r with some teeth missing on 2nd gear wouldn't cover it and they consider that abuse lmao crazy, even crazier that the ECU had zero logs and still got it under warranty... I hope I can have this guys luck if I ever need it because man that is wild. I'm curious how bad his clutch looks

What's interesting is the tech's comments about the ECU back door. Not sure what he means here, and whether that would confirm our suspicions that certain events do not get deleted with an ECU wipe.

Yeah, an elaboration on what that means would be very useful.

We know you can do an ECU wipe by disconnecting the battery, but also flashing will do a wipe as well.

Perhaps without looking at the "backdoor" he didn't think he could prove it was tuned, but the backdoor would have shown the ECU was written at the time the wipe occurred shortly before the vehicle was brought in?

This is why legitimate claims are being thrown out - they're covering garbage that shouldn't be covered and then the claims are so high, they start fudging people for their warranty. ;)

At this point, if you fuct your car, you should cut off the end of an old extension cord, strip the wires and go right into the ECU with it with 110. Just be sure you're wearing protective gloves. hehe.

You're probably joking. I know you're joking....lol

But this would be easily detectable looking at the boards.
