Thought we'd put together a list of performance based modifications with dyno charts:

Hondata FlashPro. Best bang for the buck. 10 minutes for 50 lb-ft torque and 23 hp on the MT Civic.

DSport test and tune with FlashPro. Full article: http://dsportmag.com/the-tech/boosting-to-the-limits-of-the-civics-td03-turbo/

Watch the DSport Civic YouTube video of the tuning session.

FlashPro custom tune:

High octane fuel with custom FlashPro tune:

Read the DSport article for in depth info on each mod and to see what the combination of all these parts makes.

Note that there are no published exhaust results. This is because the aftermarket exhaust DSport tested showed less than a 1HP gain - well within the margin for error.

Note also that no charts for intakes were added. There is a reason for this. We've just completed a 5 intake test and are writing it up. We will add the test results to this performance based modifications thread in a few days. I guarantee you will find it very informative.

Bone stock intake, bone stock exhaust, custom tune using KTuner using good fuel. Had to stop as the torque was killing the factory clutch through the mid range. 60whp/100wtq over stock.

Lots of testing & info on my blog as well:

PRL DP on 87 octane: http://blog.vittuned.com/tested-prl-motorsports-civicx-race-downpipe/

We won't be testing OEM size replacement intakes as the next step is a larger intake with a larger MAF housing and an upgraded turbo.

You mentioned that you hit a torque limit. I have read a few others mentioning this as well in reference to the CVT. Is your opinion that the CVT is limited to, or should not exceed to avoid failure, 220 ft. lbs. tq.?

It really doesn't make any sense these days to get aftermarket products. Some of them actually just reduce your car's performance. If you want a sportier car then just get the actual sports trim. I remember the 90s when Honda sold Civics as an ordinary daily driver, there were no options but to go with aftermarket parts. Today there is an SI and Type R loaded with all the performance right out the door.
So your saying aftermarket parts dont add hp? Come on

Contacted THERMAL R&D to see if they are making an exhaust for the civic but no one was in that could answer that question. Hopefully they will call me back with an answer.

Not to burst anyone's bubble here but we still have no idea when the Type R is coming out, and to be honest he SI's don't ever seem to be worth it, never have to me. As @Krispin said some people like the sleeper aspect. Someone needs to custom make an exhaust, that would really help allow the car to breathe better, plus that air intake. I would also like to see a tune happen sometime soon but I will wait on performance mods until I get the exterior right.
Hondata has a flash tune that I have my eye on, check out the YouTube video it seems promising for the money

Do you recommend the KTuner over Hondata? If so, V1 or V2 of the KTuner?

I personally love hondata!! I never had a problem using it. Such an easy program and you can switch tunes right at the track that was my favorite part. Roll up with stock mapping then switch over to " holy shit mode". Can't beat that. Plus some Honda dealerships will actually flash your car for you. In my opinion that is like Honda saying they back that product on their vehicles, super plus
