Hello all,

Has anyone tested or knows of any tests that indicate how much fuel the air conditioning uses? I tried to drive 20 miles with the aircon on and then drive 20 miles with it off but I don't seem to be able to establish a difference. It would be interesting to know if anyone has tested it or if there are any tests out there for the gen 10. I usually use the aircon when I drive long distance so it would be 70MPH on the motorway.

Thanks

I lose about 40-60 miles of travel with it on during the summer. Of course it could also be related to temps on top of the AC being on.

Hi! In general, this is a strange question, since the fuel consumption for the car's cooling system is so insignificant that no one usually does the calculation. When you open the windows, the fuel consumption becomes much higher.Cars have come a long way before manufacturers discovered that reducing aerodynamic drag is, in fact, a solution that contributes to fuel economy. But it is worth checking the car's cooling system regularly. I have been using the services for a long time https://www.socool.sg/why-is-your-aircon-leaking-or-dripping-water/. Excellent specialists!

100% right
You can't test the same road drive at same temperature, wind or not. These may change fuel consumption.
And gas is so cheap in USA , 1/3 more expensive in canada and more ?

I have only about 1,100 miles on my car, but have found no significant different between AC or no AC. I consistently am getting 37+MPG and range between using my AC, driving with the windows down, or just running the air on Auto. Primarily I have driven with the windows down, but I don't believe with modern cars it makes much of a difference compared to how you drive.

Years ago used to be a roughly 5% increase and I seem to remember noticing it.
With this generation tough, is not as noticeable to me.
Maybe the reason for our AC system being so problematic is that Honda pushed a bit too much in making it very efficient?
