Hi everyone!

So with Black Friday coming up, I plan to get an aftermarket exhaust. My local track, Palmer Motorsports Park has a sound level limit of 95 db, and they do enforce it. I'm looking to pick up something that won't exceed that limit, and weighs significantly less than stock. As of now, I don't plan to change the downpipe, as well as I don't want to deal with any hassles with inspection.

Right now, I'm leaning towards Remark. But I really like the AWE touring, but feel like it may be too loud for the track's 95 db limit. Any suggestion or advice would be greatly appreciated.

This video has decibel level measurements of many exhausts, except for they're measured from inside the car.

They assigned an "aggressive driving" dB level for each of the exhausts. Quietest are:

1. 27WON - 81 dB
2. Remark & Invidia Gemini (tie) - 83 dB + 69 dB cruising at 2500 rpm
3. HKS Hi-Power - 83 dB + 75 dB cruising
4. MAPerformance Stealth - 84 dB + 72 dB cruising

I haven't seen equivalent measurements of the AWE Touring but from just listening to it in videos it seems rather louder than these.

It's also worth noting that 27WON has some neat resonator tricks it's doing to significantly reduce cruising drone vs. the others. The "cruising" number for each exhaust is at 2500 but these are the 3k rpm numbers which is probably closer to what you'd experience on the highway.

1. 27WON - 74 dB
2. MAP Stealth - 83 dB
3. HKS Hi-Power - 87 dB
4. Remark & Invidia Gemini - 88 dB

Me personally, I think the Remark sounds best overall, but that 3k RPM number is on the high side of the group. I've had drone-y exhausts on previous cars and they can get tiring on the highway. Nobody else touches the 27WON in this category.

Sound levels on track are always hard to predict as it depends where the sound check is located (usually on hill, right?) I asked our Engineer if he had sound readings or a guess about the 95db limit and he said we do not. I appreciate the consideration!

Thanks for the responses you two. I am seriously thinking of getting the AWE Touring with the 3 tips, then getting a spare 2 tip piece and modify that with a couple of silencers for the tracks with sound limits.

If you don't plan on changing the DP, AWE Touring should slide under the 95DB limit. I had a friend/ customer rev his car with the AWE Track I supplied him (stock DP), and it was quieter than my AWE Touring with 27won Catted DP.

Changing of the DP to an aftermarket unit adds more sound than any other component.

THIS.

You can run open downpipe with the stock cat and still be below 95dB. If you try to run an aftermarket downpipe is when you have to start playing with mufflers - make sure the cost and weight is worth the extra power/spool.
