Advice on winter tires

Another reason to roll 215/55-16s in the winter is that those 18" wheels and 40-profile tires, and potholes don't mix very well...

I am concerned about dry road handling. Being retired, I can often time my travels for when there's no snow. I haven't acted yet but my local tire store started a 10% off 4 tires & rims so the price installed with tax would be under $700. I'm tempted.

Looks like you're not far away from me -- I'm near Buffalo. We used to visit Toronto regularly but haven't been in a while, recently talked about going but figured better to wait for Spring.
