Any advice before I just take an angle grinder and lose an inch off the bottom of the metal? Didn't think the 265s would rub this much.

I would suggest you try rolling/pulling them as much as possible before hacking away at anything.

best of luck

I pulled and rolled what I could and still get the covers back on. May just cut back on the plastic some more first. Or ignore it since it's less often then before rolling some.

What are you running for wheel/spring setup?? I'm sure alot of users on here can help point you in the right direction without taking a grinder to the wheel wells.

18 by 9.5 +38 stock suspension. 255/40 was good on all season tires. Now 265/40 pilot super sports not as pleasant. After slightly rolling the metal inner fender its not as bad but still not pleasant on these NE roads.

^ What he said.

Never had any rubbing issues on stock suspension, street or track, on Enkei Tuning TS-V 18x9.5 +40 and Falken Azenis RT615K+ 265/35/18.

265/40/18 is your problem should stick with 255 40 18 or 265 35 18
agreed,

op: idk about you but personally i'd rather just get a new set of tires like the above mentioned before cutting into an R

I guess that almost 3mm made a huge difference. I'll just watch how I'm driving in rough places.

are you running the michelin pilot sport 4s?

unbeknownst to me up until a little bit ago, apparently michelins sidewalls are slightly beefier. so if you compared a 255/40/18 indy 500 to a 255/40/18 michelin ps4's, the michelin's will be ever so slightly wider

Super sport summer tires. Sidewalls are shorter then the 255/40s I was running from perelli. I rolled everything best I could and its tolerable. Slow reply its my birthday so celebrating and trying to not cut things. But I won't ever be selling so I don't mind fender work.

Not my car but i sure as hell wouldn’t take a grinder to this vehicle. I have 265/35/18 michelins on my car. Zero rub and it’s been loaded HEAVY on 1500 mile roadtrips. I’m also on 45mm offset 9.5” wide wheels. Speedo is just slightly off.

I’d sell the current rubber and get 35 series tires and save your sheetmetal. However, it’s your car, your choice.
