I received this letter in the mail the other day. Aside from the spelling error, is this a legit thing? Vehicle and AC control unit update?

It doesn't even indicate what it is they're supposedly going to do.

I just called. The "AC control unit" issue actually has to do with heat and cabin not heating up correctly... And nothing to do with the cooling....

Why they call it "AC control unit" issue, I don't know...

I'm about to bring my car in to have the AC dying looked at again (2nd summer in a row).

I haven't had issues with my heat, but whatever.

I'm really not looking forward to bringing this in to the dealer, I have not been to the dealer since I bought the car 2 years ago ( I hate dealers). And the one I want to use is an hour away.

So is this going to fix whatever the problem is? Because It sounds like whatever this is supposed to be band-aiding is a much more serious concern ...

You may not have an issue now, but if you have one later after the emission warranty is up, you will be on the hook for the repairs.

I am calling tomorrow to schedule an appointment, I guess I just wish all these looming concerns did not plague every new car.

Back in the day you bought the family car. The thing was a tank and it lasted for decades.

They were tanks. And they consumed gasoline like tanks, too! :)

Also, I remember fixing my old cars every weekend. I think overall, new cars are much more reliable than the cars from 30 years ago.

Welcome to the new age!

Even so, if they issue a recall for a software update, and you ignore it, then something breaks, they will say it is your fault.

mine was completed last Friday. I do not know if it just a placebo effect looks like it is more responsive.

Are they actually physically replacing anyting in terms of Hardware or is it just software updating?

Mine was just done on Tuesday. Nothing is replaced, just software updates, and then throttle position reset and PCM idle learn procedure.

Its a software update, supposedly the ac control module keeps sending fuel into the system, even when you're heating (or defroster) isnt on anymore, which can result in too much fuel in your system. The down side is that the fuel and oil can mix and cause a random misfire
