So my car usually parks in my garage and I don't really have problem with AC.
Yesterday I went to market and parked outside for about 1 hour and it was around 95 degrees outside. Then I couldn't get it blow cool air even when I turned to max. Then I got on highway and drove about 20 minutes, a little bit better but still not very cold.
I thought my AC is blown again - had that two years ago and fixed with new extended warranty. But today when I started from home garage I feel it is quite normal again.
In heat conditions, is it normal?
Maybe not necessary AC has problem?

Do you have it on recirculation? If not, the hot humid air from outside is going to impact the A/C's performance.

I just got my 16 Civic EX-L back from the dealer. 52K. AC stopped working. I read about the extended warranty on the condenser but of course both my condenser AND compressor were bad. Bill was $1385. That's gonna leave a mark

The A/C in this car sucks hard. Iā€™d say thatā€™s normal since it eventually got better. They do seem to fail entirely eventually though.

My hot weather procedure is to set the A/C to low with max fan while cracking the windows halfway down for a minute to try and get the car interior down to ambient. Then, close the windows and set the A/C to recirculate. It was 115F today and it only took 10min for my car to cool down, which sadly is a win.

Itā€™s bad. It also makes shifting in the Si more difficult because it puts so much load on the engine when itā€™s running full blast to try and cool down a cabin that is 90+ degrees.

Honda makes great cars but lousy ac systems for some reason. Cars I've owned:

2006 Civic, replaced the condensor and compressor. 2010 Crv replaced the compressor. 2012 Civic replaced the compressor. I bought the extended warranty on my 2020 Civic cause I know it's eventually going to break lol

There is a Honda Tech here in CivicX.com that says that all three main components (condensor, compressor, evaporator) are faulty and will not last long. The condensor is the worst, but the compressor and evaporator will not last 10+ years like they used to in previous generation Civics.

Once your condensor has been replaced under warranty, you can try to get Honda to pay for some of the subsequent repairs when the AC fails again. If Honda won't pay anything, you will be better off just to find an honest local AC specialist to fix it. They know AC better than Honda Techs and they are usually cheaper.

Guess I've been lucky with my AC in all my Civic's. Only had to replace compressor on 3 of them and nothing else. Always seems to blow cold pretty quickly as long as I roll the windows down when I get in in the summer. OP sounds like something failed and you need to get it checked.

So regarding TSB 19-091, since I had that applied two years ago for condensor repair and replacement, if I take it to the dealer again, would they apply for subsequent repairs?
It seems it says only for factory parts.

Idk if anyone has tried it, but I noticed on my 2020 si I always run the AC on LOW, but I tried 74 one day to see if anything changed while cruising on I-5 and it made a significant difference.

Also another thing I have noticed running the AC regardless , cruising 80+ in sport mode seems to put the AC on a very low blow mode.

Also in regards of OP - My car is black, parking outside for a extended period with AC full blast takes a good 10+ minutes to even start to feel cool in 110 degrees.

I just think the new crap they use in the system sucks forgot the name of it, cause my vette and tahoe blow cold immediately even in 110 sitting outside all day.

Adding my knowledge to the research that I did in the past after my compressor and condenser failed last summer.

Make sure that even in the colder months, you run it on the lowest setting with ā€œAC ONā€ at least once a week to make sure that the compressor and its refrigerant is fully circulated and does not dry up the seals.

One bad mistake that I did that contributed to its failure was not running it before in winter and then running it hard when it was already blowing hot air thinking that it can still cool the air to which it did not.

I think, early on, people were also finding that the AC wasn't fully charged from the factory causing the AC to fail more quickly as well.
