I got it pre painted from absdynamics. All shops told me couple days and more money. so i let the absdynamics paint it.

Those are pop rivets. They are unnecessary. No one I have talked to has used them for the install.

Take and post pics of the process as a resource for future users
There's actually a few really good ones already if you search. Some of the info is a few pages in but I found a ton of info there and added some myself regarding rubber washers and longer bolts, etc.

That being said, I think at this point somehow we need to compile the links into one like OFFICIAL TYPE R SPOILER INSTALL ON A HATCH MASTER THREAD because I constantly find myself commenting on new threads to help people out and it's basically verbatim for what I said in other posts, but it's easier than digging up the links to the other thread. And honestly I don't mind helping as I wouldn't have installed mine without help from the forum. But it is getting a bit repetitive, so I may go ahead and do that. I have to swap my APR wing back to the Type R style for winter, so I'll be able to take some pictures of the install and the modifications I made to the kit with extra parts and such.

I mean I searched everywhere on google, youtube and forum. I couldn't exactly find assembling this wing. Everyone shared drilling stage. It's not hard to assemble but the thing is there is brackets which they put wrong side on it. I couldn't figure it out ?other that that is okay.

The bracket for the center piece? I had them on the wrong side at first also.

Ahh ok ok I see now. I laid everything out and looked at the holes and brackets and how they would line up and imagined the finished product in my head while looking at pictures of it assembled before actually tightening any bolts. Any time I've gone and just started putting screws into something I have to take them out and re-look at how it goes together because I 'screwed up' ;) so now I just do it before assembly. I've also been in manufacturing for 11 years, I'm sure this helps lol. It does seem a bit daunting when you look at all the pieces, but you just have to step back and visualize how they are going to fit together and mock it up!

Also, the biggest pain in the ass in the ENTIRE assembly & install was the one bolt inside the mounting piece were you need a freaking 10" long screwdriver to tighten it lol. I didn't have the right size so I had to run out while I was assembling it, and I planned to do it in one day so that was a nice hiccup. I took my time on it, it took like 7 hours start to finish... But it was a perfect fit, the holes were nice and in the right spot, and it was ON there with the 3M tape.

Guys absdynamic's template seems for small version. It doesn't match with holes...

that's what I used and it fit 100% perfect. Put painters tape on the hatch where it will be going. Try to cut the holes out if you can and then you can just use a sharpie to make the circle on the painters tape. I kinda like ripped through them but should have cut them. Luckily mine still lined up.

This is exact to OEM by the way. I replaced with the APR wing and it fit perfect right away and it is designed to use OEM holes on the Type R! If you ever get the itch for a bigger wang, know that any Type R one will work

That's what I was looking for. I may upgrade to OEM type R wing in future. Because this absdynamics overall product quality doesn't make me satisfied. I mean I know it's not that expensive but first impression is not good. Feels cheap material. If this template's holes will be same as OEM then I'll install it. I was not sure, even O got the part and assembled last night ? i still had doubt. I'll be installing today...

And thanks @adc3132

No problem man! It may feel cheesy but if you are careful putting together it will last. I put 30k miles with my spoiler, mostly all highway at high speed, and when I went to take it off, it was almost impossible to remove because of the 3m mounting tape. I will try to take picture if I remember when I get home, the tape is still on the wing. I left it together and just pulled off, and it still feels extremely sturdy.

OEM not worth it.... It's all in the assembly and mounting. I had 2 of the threaded inserts come out when I took it off but I am still confident with new pieces I can re use the base. For how cheap it is... it's actually very well made.
