About to pull the trigger on new wheels, am I making the right choice?

I was planning on keeping the stock wheels, thinking the roads around here aren't that bad, but bent the front 2 rims in under 1000 miles due to bad construction.

I am looking for a good all around summer tire set up, I'm down south and don't need winter tires. I'm not doing and track days or anything, just a good daily driving set up.

Searching the forums and talking to people here who were very helpful I'm thinking of going with Enkei TS-V 18x9.5 with michelin pilot sport 4s 265/35zr18

My question is, are the 18x9.5 right for what I want? Tirerack suggests 18x8.5, I know they don't show other wheels even if they are technically compatible, but what would be the differences between them? I have searched a lot of the forums and most people run the 9.5.

I am hoping to avoid any rubbing, car pulling to one side or the other, tramlining and the usual stuff. Would there be a better set up? Sorry I've never purchased after market wheels before, just have always used stock wheels.

I've been on the fence about this also. If you're wheels are bent then I say def go for it.

im just waiting on my excuse so I can go forged lol.

You shouldn't rub with 265/35/18 tires with +45 offset and generally won't on +35 (lowered cars may have an exception.) Those are the typical offsets aftermarket rims are in for us. Tire Rack wants you to get an 8.5" wheel since that is stock width. You go to 9.5" wide rims for more traction. You don't really notice the difference going to a wider tire, if anything the steering may feel slightly "heavier" since you have more tire contact patch to move when steering. Otherwise you just break traction less. And use slightly more fuel, but again not noticeably.

So basically you will be fine with the setup you chose. The lower the offset you run may induce some torque steer, which will be amplified if you are modified, but personally I think the small amount of torque steer you get is easy to live with. I am tuned and run 265/35/18s PS4 tires on Titan7 18x9.5 +45.

I'm seeing that a 265/40 might be too big, what about 245/40?

18x9.5 wheels can be fitted with 255/40/18 tires to minimize fitment issues and better comfort.

Thanks for the quality replies, I did mean to say 255/40, just too many numbers bouncing around for today, gonna sleep on it
I run 255/40/18 on mine with no issues (stock height), also Enkei TS-V (albeit 8.5" wide). Good luck!

Ah interesting, I haven't seen many go with 8.5 which is why I was going 9.5, pretty happy with the setup?

:) Very happy with the setup. Lighter wheels and more comfort on 40-profile tires (Michelin Pilot Super Sport). Stock wheels are stowed away in case I sell the car in the future.

So....I've rubbed on stock height with 265/35 18 with a 35 offset....so to say you won't isn't exactly correct :)
Probably that extra +10 offset of yours lol. I hadn't done as much research into the +35 wheels - I updated my original post to say you generally won't rub on +35, and shouldn't rub at all on +45 or higher.

yeah, people tried to warn me, but I went 35 offset anyway, lol...I had 45 offset also, never rubbed on that
