Hi folks,
our 2016 Civic EX with only 12200 miles just got a A7 maintenance minder, which I believe means change the brake fluid. Doesn't that seem to be on the low side in mileage to change out the brake fluid. And the brake reservoir fluid was very clear and clean, as one would expect. Also the fluid was at it's full level, meaning that the brake pads are not that worn either.
I can do a brake fluid change, but I don't believe that one would be required at this mileage and shape.
any suggestions?

I believe A7 is for tire rotation, B7 is the brake fluid.

I found this, which lead me to believe that A7 brake fluid related.

If a Maintenance Minder indicator does not appear more than 36 months after the item 7 is reset, change the brake fluid every 3 years.

Driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds or trailer towing results in higher transmission temperatures. This requires transmission fluid changes more frequently than recommended by the Maintenance Minder. If the vehicle is regularly driven under these conditions, have the transmission fluid changed every 25,000 miles (40,000 km).

Use Honda MTF.

Honda recommends changing the brake fluid every three years, regardless of mileage.

I'm 71 and been maintaining cars since before I drove. Back in the day, no one would dream of changing brake fluid, and to do so would be a major operation or even impossible. Only reason would be contamination or degradation. Just how is that supposed to happen ? Of course Honda and MM are going to say that as CYA. What'd you expect ? I'm currently driving well functioning Civics, an '04 and a '16, and it's never been done on either.

A7 shows up as oil and brake fluid on the 10 Gen civic. You can find the specifics in the Setting -> System -> Vehicle - Maintenance info. (discovered it today) when I did fill my brake fluid reservoir to max/full. It was on low... weird....
