figured i would share this here as it isn't really about a 10th gen honda, rather just a testament for honda.
allegedly, my uncle had a civic for his first car. he drove it a bit throughout high-school and a bit throughout college. he racked up "easily over 100k miles". he NEVER took the car in for maintenance and had no clue how to do maintenance himself. frankly, he just didn't care as the car ran perfectly fine.
eventually, something convinced him to take the car in for a checkup or something. to make a long part of this story short, the mechanic asked how long it had been since my uncle had an oil change.
my uncle replied, "i don't know."
"son," said the mechanic, " you're running nearly dry!"
i don't have a single clue how he evaded going in for so long or avoided an oil change, but cheers to honda! the car had been running YEARS without an oil-change.
this story + my stepmom's love for her old 2.2l vtec prelude + my dad's admiration for honda's motors on land and on water is kinda what drove them to push me towards a civic. couldn't be happier!
obligatory warning that this story was told to my by two people who are NOT mechanics, and then retold by me (just started learning more about combustion engines and cars as a whole) so take it with a grain of salt. it sounds like folklore to me, but i thought i should share anyways.
have a great day guys! tell me down below if this could actually even happen lol
