Yes, it feels more firm as the leather isn't as thick as stock. It also is more rounded and thus ball-like than stock. The stitching feels good in the hand too.

got my type R knob!!!!
really impressed how this is well weighted and really smooth and much lower to shift ...almost like a short shifter.....
parked my car in the sun and wasnt even hot......
really glad i did it1
and for holding the boot i just put some electrical tape!!! does the job plenty!

This is probably your best bet. Don't cut your boot like they do and zip tie to your adapter instead.

You get rid of the stock silver ring, don't need it.

So you didn't use a zip tie? I had to use one to secure the stock boot up.

Nope,

When you take the stock boot (silver thing) out, you can install the adapter from outside and then just wrap the leather underneath it, it will snug right around it.

I see, so did you end up removing the centre panel and trim pieces at all then? I did, was a little extra work but allowed me to zip tie the boot up.

Yes to remove the silver piece.
