A guy over shot the drive through speaker and reversed into me in a t-bone fashion. It broke the headlight mounting tabs, and shifted the front fender. If the guy smashed into my Supra, I would have beat the shit out of him, and his wife too. Now when I go to sell the Honda, there's going to be an insurance claim showing on the CarFax.

When the guy was doing the estimate he popped the hood and showed me some more damage. The bumper needs to be replaced plus a new fender. You can kind of seee the damage to the fender around the marker light. I guess the LED headlight was over $1,000 to replace.

I drive a Nissan Versa to and from work (don’t laugh at me ?, at least it’s a manual), and one day while it was at my carpool partners house, someone grazed the bumper… very little damage. I took it to 2 local body shops, both shops quoted me around $1700 to fix it. I was blown away at the cost. So in this case, $5k seems ridiculous, but I can believe it.

The OP is Canadian so that's about $3900 US dollars. Still steep for a minor fender bender but prices today are insane.

Insurance has something called diminished value claim. Pretty much an accident lowered the value of your car and they give you the difference. Not the easiest to get them to pay but I’ve done it.

I'll chime in, considering I've had similar damage.

Look everywhere possible for a color matched font bumper cover and fender.

I was able to get the bumper cover for $100 and fender for $120. The bumper was an easy R&R -- the fender was more difficult.

Oh, I missed the headlamp.
Same story tho, there's a fb of 10th parts and people let the OE lamps go for cheap.

Or, might be time to upgrade the headlamps.

I think the OP was basically saying, "it sucks that someone hit my Civic; if they hit my Supra I'd be a lot more upset".

I don't think he'd actually beat up the guy and his wife though, at least I'd hope not. The Supra's nice but jail time isn't.

I think people are missing the bigger picture. I don't think the 5k matters. This wasn't a hit and run the other's guys insurance is going to cover it no need to go junkyard shopping. OP is just crying because his car is going to lose value on car facts and has a second vehicle to use while the other gets fixed. I think you need to chill.
