Hello all,
Has anyone had this issue? The 3M tape is peeling from the drivers passenger side. I attached some pictures to show the gap. I took it to Honda they said it should be covered. Honda sent me to a body shop to get an estimate and the manager said their 3M tape is not as good as OEM Honda tape. He said they can fix it with glue, free of charge for Honda. What do you guys recommend? Should I let the shop glue it or is there a shop in SoCal that can 3M it correctly? Thank you.

If you damage it in a scrape or bump would getting it off be easier with the tape I wonder, with the glue making it hard and damage the bit it's bonding too....hmmm...

Tempting to get it glued for short term fix but above would be my only concern

Go to a different shop. That one doesn't want your business and is just suggesting a lazy fix.

you'd think honda would have used fashioners and clips. Cost cutting at the finest.

I only went there because the Honda dealership said they get their bodywork done there. You’re right I’ll have to look for a better shop.

If you use 3m VHB automotive tape , and prepare the surface Right ,cleaning , degreasing with rubbing alcohol and applying 3m primer on both surfaces then it won't come off.

Nice assumption without any facts.

It has fasteners and clips and should sit a lot closer to the body even if the double sided tape isn't as strong. I removed mine and reinstalled and it doesn't look like that. Something tweaked it and isn't seated correctly.

Hey Ozby,
I had the exact same thing happen to my 2018. I took it to the dealership and they had a body guy come in and fix it with OEM parts, and fasteners. If the dealership is recommending that you use a body shop that is not repairing to OEM standards, you need to talk to the service manager. If that does not get you anywhere, you go to Honda proper. With service, they at least have some say (Especially since it is a warranty issue) in how the car is repaired. Unfortunety, Honda does not have much oversight with the dealership end of things... RE: Dealerships auctioning initial shipment of Type R's at 2x 3x 10x the MSRP.
