so, in my price range there are 5 distinct contestants:

1. cerwin-vega H4TAK
https://www.cerwinvegamobile.com/h4tak
love the brand. but it feels like cerwin-vega just franchise'd their name for some sweat-shop quality entrepreneurs. not only it markets under different name (cerwin-vega mobile), but also minor details from their website make me feel like it was coded by freshman college IT student (Frequency Response: 3.5Khz - 20Khz)

2. rockford fosgate P1T-S
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/products/details/p1t-s/
they come in a kit and the kit is massive

3. hertz DT 24.3
http://www.hertzaudiovideo.com/car-audio-tweeters-dieci-dt24_3/
there is a positive review already in this forum and fitment should be easy

4. clarion SRG213H
http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products-personal/speaker/SRG213H/hilight/index.html
pretty ugly

5. pioneer TS-T15
https://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/Speakers/Special-Application/TS-T15
cheap

and attached are the combined tech details

will appreciate any input and comments

P.S. EX-L coupe has "premium" 10-speaker system, identical to sedan/hatch touring

The JBL GTO19T tweeters are awesome. A must have for better front staging.

thanks everyone

went with HERTZ because got them for only $40 + free shipping

installation was awful because the "toothy" mounting ring from installation kit could not be used since it is slightly bigger than stock tweeter clip. so, had to macgyver it in place
and the overall craftsmanship quality of the product (and especially the mounting parts) as for my opinion is quite low

also, I opted to install crossovers provided. before installing I tried to listen with and without them and to be perfectly honest I couldn't tell any difference, but, hey, since I already have them why not use them? just to throw them away seemed quite a wasteful option

I disconnected rear tweeters on the next day after installation. listened for a while, then connected them back. listened for a while again and finally disconnected them: since they make no difference at all, why bother powering them and wasting electricity?

as for the sound - so far I'm pretty happy with the money spent: huge gain in clarity and details

someone on this forum suggested that this should be a second thing after sub that has to be changed in our system
I would say - this should be the first
decent sub would put you down $200+ AND installing it would be painful
decent tweeters would cost you ~$50 and they will be in place in half an hour

(P.S. although, like I've mentioned, I have coupe and canadian assembly seems to be way better that american or british. for example, the read deck already comes with some white soundproofing and anti-rattling material in place. who knows, maybe if I had sedan or hatch and had all that terrible experience with stock sub, I might've voted for sub swap first)
