I am confused, it looks like the cold side piping is larger than the hot side. Isn't it normally the other way around since the hot air pre-intercooler is a larger volume than the cold air post intercooler?

Cold air is more dense, hence we can pack more of it in a given space.

That explanation only makes sense if the cold side is smaller than the hot side. The same mass of air hot would require larger piping than cold. From what I can tell based on your images, the cold side is larger than the hot side.

Edit: after doing some more reading, I guess some designs deliberately use a smaller hot side pipe to keep air velocity up to put it through the intercooler faster, with a larger cold side pipe to keep temperatures lower. Is this possibly the reasoning behind the seemingly counter-intuitive pipe sizing?

How difficult of an install would something like this be? I FEEL like it shouldn't be too hard, but I'm also guessing the front bumper has to come all the way off, which could be annoying/tricky.

Actually pretty easy. these bumpers are not that hard to take off. As with everything we make will be sure to give you guys full step by step instructions on all of it.
