Just put these 255/40/18 Indy 500 on some Work 9.5 wide rim. They seem so narrow. Maybe just the way the tires sit on these rims or are Indy 500 that narrow?

Considering returning for the 90 day buy and try and going with 275/35.

Anyone run 275/35 on. 9.5 +38 stock suspension?

255 is equal to 10 inches. Ideally it's fine. Now regarding tire sizes per manufacturer, could be a bit different. Indy's might run a bit more narrow, or true to size versus how Federal RSRR's run a bit wider than normal. A 255 in those fit like a 265.

It's all preference. I personally run 255 on a 9.5 on my S2000. I am stepping down to a 245 because I like it like it better. For the Civic I will be running a 255 and going from there.

Yah I was hoping the 255 would have sat flush on this 9.5 but doesn't look like it. Either way I'm not too happy about the fit of this tire on this particular rim. Was interested to see if any others running 255 on their 9.5 rims had a similar look.

According to Tire rack I can get another 0.5 inch going up to a 275/35 while maintaining a similar overall diameter in the Indy500s.

This is not my car but the owner is on here (sorry I forgot their name). They were on 275/35 Indy 500s with stock suspension.

Also, here was my car on 255/40 Indys (first picture) vs 265/35 falken azenis 615k on stock suspension.

In my opinion, the 255/40 or 275/35 look way better with stock suspension. I ended up lowering my car and that is why I went with the 265/35

I might try the 275 but a bit interested in lowering next year so maybe the 265 Indy is better...

Looks like the 275/35 Indy 500 is narrower than the 265/35 PS4S according to Tire rack.

In my experience, it really depends on the tire/wheel brand on how it will visually look on the tire sidewall and wheel edge. Here's how mine looks with 255/40R18 on 18x9.5 +38.

I think its just the design of the lip on that wheel. I have 255 on a 9.5 wide and it sits flush

Yeah I hear you. I was suspecting maybe the wheel design put the bead a bit more inward for that lowrider life. Going to try more meat anyway since meat is good.

Btw looking good!

@Tev42 what tire do you have tho? All 255s run differently. You want to pay attention to tread width and section width when buying. Look at difference below between falken fk510 265 (first pic) vs indy 500

@Panda-R that tire might not be seated properly? I can’t be sure though. Does it have air in it?

Edit: the tire should fit a 9.5” rim. Even if it was too narrow, you’d end up with a slight stretch.
