Hopefully I'll remember to post in this thread in another year or two when I get new tires.

Yeah not trying to go with taller tires, just want more grip on the road and also for the looks. I'm looking at going with either General GMAX AS-03 or 05.

What I really want is extra sidewall to help protect the rims each time I get too close to the damned curb. This hatch still feels much bigger than my previous three Civics.

This is also why i am going wider with 245 instead of the 235. When purchasing my EX hatch i checked out the sports and there wasn't much to protect the rim from the curb.

I am an tire senior project manager. the formula for tire sizing is simple take 235 x .4 divided by 25.4 x2 + wheel diameter. Factory tire/wheel diameter is 25.4 inches. When you go to a 245-40-18 the circumference changes slowing the speedometer down. Use this formula to play with plus 0, plus 1 options. Never use a plus 2 option. The load index/rating of a 20 inch tire will not hold the weight of the vehicle and will cause state inspection failure coupled with tire sidewall failure over bumps.
