I am looking to decide between these 2 tire sizes for an 18x8.5 wheel. I drive an EX-T with factory 17" wheels and I know the Si has the 235 width...should I keep with that size or save $50 a wheel and go with the 225 width.

I'd normally be quick to recommended the widest option but if you saying you can save $200 by going with the 225's, that is hard to argue against.

I would go with the OEM size, but the cost difference is pushing me to the 225's. The difference is $202 per tire versus $249

Ah, I thought it was $50 difference for the set. Pet tire I'd probably get the 225 as well.

I'd go 235 or 245. Better fit for an 8.5" wheel.

Since you're also focused on price, can you find a different model of tire that's less expensive, too?

(which then begs the question, why nickel-and-dime on tires when you're spending a bundle on extra wheels, but that's kinda judgmental...)

On 225 it would look a bit stretched and your speedo will be less accurate vs 235/40

Yeah, the 225 would be 1.8% error in speedo versus 0.25% with the 235

would it be really that stretched? The 225 is the smallest you would want to comfortably put on an 8.5" wheel

225 is better for 18x8 wheels. For looks, 235 will look better on 18x8.5. The SI has 18x8 on 235s, it look just about right.

But well, you now know the facts. It's really up to you if you want to spend the extra to get the 235/40

I just put 235/40ZR18's (Pilot Sport 4s) on my '17 EX-T Coupe. They fill the wheel well perfectly. I love the meaty look.

Do they have a good curb protection lip on them?
