The S2000 turns 20 next year, and Honda is celebrating with a custom prototype at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January. It features a number of parts that could make their way to production via the company's accessory division, Honda Access.
The car, based on an AP1-generation S2000, sports a new bumper with a wider grille, more prominent fenders, new side sills, a spoiler, and a set of sweet 17-inch Advan RZ2 wheels. The windshield surround has been painted black, as have the mirror caps. Inside sit a pair of red sport seats, which look to be similar, if not identical, to the originals.
We should know more about Honda’s production plans by the time the show rolls around next year.
As Autoblog points out, this isn't the first time Honda has brought an out-of-production car to a show like this. It did so back in 2013 with the S2000 Modulo Climax, a one-off S2000 with a deep red paint job and a funky bumper design.
