So far I'm very happy I jumped on the 2021 STi...

2L to 2.4L for +3hp and +0lb-ft, plus a ton of wack looking plastic. Massive L in my book.

Hopefully they make more significant improvements to the STi.

I have a feeling the sti is gonna look bad too.
i saw in reddit a interesting rear angle on the wrx and it really shows how far the black plastic sticks out.
Like where i can see you will hit your knees loading your trunk.
oh subaruā€¦

Iā€™m sure it will drive faster than the one one. The 2.4 probably hits harder earlier.

I'm curious to see.

From the press release:

For 2022, the WRX lineup features a new 2.4-liter turbocharged Subaru BOXERĀ® engine, delivering 271 horsepower at 5,600 rpm, a broader torque curve with 258 lb-ft of torque from 2,000-5,200 rpm. The increased displacement, along with a turbocharger equipped with electronically controlled wastegate and air bypass valves, improves responsiveness and acceleration.

The outgoing model has 268 hp @ 5,600 rpm / 258 lb-ft @ 2,000ā€“5,200 rpm which is virtually the same on paper. The torque curve itself may be strategically managed against the CVT limits.

Hate the exterior plastic moldings on multiple levels. The butt sticks out way too far. The infotainment screen gives me conniptions, I already have a daily battle against dust on my small Si's screen. Overall, it just seems so SUV-ish inside and out, not exactly the sporty experience I'm used to with the WRX.

At least now any decision between a new WRX or BRZ will be much easier.

That infotainment display has been used in newer subarus for like 3 years. I havenā€™t used it myself, but reviews say it is slow an unresponsive. If youā€™re gonna put a tablet in my face when I drive, it better not be obnoxious to use.

The plastic doesnā€™t belong on the sports car model. It looks like the mazda cx-30.

+3 hp and +0 lb-ft of torque, plus offroad Crosstrek cladding, and the good stuff like Recaro seats and adjustable suspension only on the CVT version.

Balls in your court, Honda.

Looks like they were asked to make a smaller, sportier crosstrek, not a WRX. Decent looking rally car, but not getting WRX vibes.

I was thinking of an STi, but no one can tell when it's coming...and the WRX is nothing special. So glad I found a good deal on a '21 CTR...i'm a happy camper.

Watched some more videos on the latest and apparently the higher GT trim with adjustable dampers and recaro seats will only be available with the cvt. Another head scratching decision.

Seems like itā€™s getting 600rpm more boost time. Iā€™ll try to link the article but the turbo comes on 200rpm sooner and falls of 400rpm later in the range.
