Can we please enforce the usaage of "rumor" or "speculation" in thread titles? The author doesn't know any more than we do, and someone's going to see this and start spouting it as a fact (just like when the Type R was getting AWD or a DCT)
Mate this is a forum, 99% of it is rumour, speculation or bs! But yeah apologies if you felt it was click bait

IM still sticking with we arent gonna see a 2022. We will see a completely resigned 2023. 2021 le will be last we see after factory shut down and moving it and all. They gonna get regular civic up and running before putting out a new R. Get the 11th gen up and running for a year before we see a dialed in halo car.

I know you’re trying to make a joke but this thing would be flying off the shelves if they did this. Whether people wanna accept it or not, manuals are barely alive

It appears a new generation of Civic will come out for 2021, and IF there is any chance of another CTR, it’ll come a year or two after that, much like the gurney generation did.

The CTR isn’t really a money maker for Honda, hence why it comes later.

The 2017-2020 would have flown off shelves if it wasn't for the ADMs that were pushed on it. Same fate happened to other cars too like the Focus RS.

oh finally a realist LOL. People tend to be overly passionate about the R and dont realize its a hobby car for Honda. Honda could and has before just drop it as its not a money maker by any means in the scale of the auto industry. There is always the very real possibility this is the last R we see in the states the 2021 LE

It's already here, it's called the 2019 Acura RDX and you can get it Hondata Tuned to the R specs right now! But it's still an SUV...

Not sure if this is sarcasm... The image below was taken from Hondata's website... The RDX is rated for 272 HP at the crank by Honda/Acura. It makes about 230-235HP peak on a stage 2 setup which would be about 290-2955 HP crank if it were losing 20% to drivetrain. The base suprisingly makes 225 to the wheels (280 to the crank). The Type R initially made around 295 HP to the wheels at base (320-330 HP at crank accounting for 10% powertrain loss). Tough Hondata's current base shows 320 HP.

The motors output and power remind me more of a Honda Accord 2.0T than the Honda Civic Type R 2.0T. The Accord makes about 260 HP base which would be about 290 HP crank (accounting for the 10% loss).

On top of all that, the RDX uses a variant of the K20C4 motor found in the Accord vs the K20C1 found in the Type R.

Odd note that the dyno charts Hondata provides for the Accord and RDX are cropped weirdly... Type R isn't cropped in the same weird fashion.

It was quite a bit of sarcasm, but, from what I have read, the European version of the RDX is available in a couple of sportier versions than the U.S. one... I would like to see those specs... Also, Graham Rahal has modded an RDX to produce 345 hp and 370 pound-feet of torque.

I can say with certainty I vastly prefer the front end of the FK8 to whatever that thing is. If it ends up being close to that render.
