I'm 1st in line for a 2021 ctr at my Toronto honda dealer. Can't wait since my dealer failed to secure a 2020 model months ago. I have the contract on my table and I will challenge the price increase if it comes up.

Yeah the price increase is insane! Plus why no color options....like WTF where is the RR??? They only had it for half a year in 2018 :( PMM is nice to see but not my first choice. So I assume BB was a 2020 only for us Canadians?

Very disappointed overall, glad I already have my 2017 and won't be bothering to upgrading now.

Yes that's correct, they cannot sell for more than MSRP as it is against the law, however some dealers with other cars do it (i.e. Ford GT500). How dealers get around that sometimes is adding a bunch of accessories and make you purchase the car with all the add-ons, which I am sure happens a lot in the US on top of ADM.
Canadian Porsche dealer will asked you to buy an extra car from their inventory if you want to get an allocation on GT2/GT3/GT4!

Well, according to my online currency converter $48,001 CAD is equivalent to $35,866 US. So you're still getting it cheaper than MSRP in the states, and at least in Ontario you should have an easier time finding one at MSRP. As for colors, that's interesting because PMM looks like it's unavailable in the US for 2021. I have a 2018 PMM and it was my first choice by a wide margin, CW would have been my second choice.

It's a shame with the price increase for the 2021. I was waiting for my CTR LE but had I known how much it would be I would have gone with a 2020. Earlier this year, I could have gotten a Boost Blue one for $46 out the door from the same dealer I have the LE allocated to
Yup, ditto for me. Dealer got in a 2020 Champ White and held it for me for 24 hours with a deposit. I decided to forgo it and wait for the LE. That lower price of the 2020 and the loyalty interest rate incentive was sure tempting.

You can’t contest the MSRP of the 2021 car. It’s literally the price

Canadian buyers have been getting Type Rs for $2K under MSRP since 2018. The purchase price of a 2021 is always negotiable.

Just because it is equivalent to $35k USD we still have to pay in Canadian currency so we are over paying at 48k IMO.

It's sad, because you know at these prices the type R will not survive.

Yeah wish I could have gone that route. Reaching out to my dealer if they happen to have any 2020s available still but I doubt it given they were in such short supply.

Likely depends on where you are. It's an accomplishment to get a Type R in Alberta at MSRP without any mark-ups via PPF packages, extended warranty, etc. That's why I choose my dealer allocation for the LE to be at Lloydminister because they were the only ones willing to do MSRP with no add ons. Still ended up being 60K after fees and taxes...

You are entitled to think it's overpriced. My point is that $48k CAD, in US dollars, is less than MSRP in the states. Our MSRP ($37,495) is equivalent to $50,258 CAD. And in Canada, you have a better chance to actually buy at MSRP without talking to 50 different dealers in six provinces.

Ya im in Montreal and when I was cross shopping with ontario I noticed our prices were significantly lower. There were serveral in the 33-35k range. Lately though ive noticed an increase
I noticed price increase on used Type R in Montreal when the 2020 pricing came out, seems all dealerships wants to use this opportunity to increase 2k to 3k asking price accordingly.

Funny thing is, those ads stuck around for a few month without moving because I guess most people aren't THAT dumb. They eventually dropped back to what I'd call normal range (i.e. 37~39k for a 2018 or 2019 per se). Then they started to disappear from the search.

The greed.

I once had a dealership replying to my email asking about why the price is so high at 42k for a used 2018, it said: "oh it's a limited edition car and it has to be sold with the accessories we installed (visors, tints etc)"

LOL, no thanks, I'll get a used Type R but won't be from you :p

It's $56k out the door in my province. For a hopped up front wheel drive Civic, no thank you!!
