i want a type s to replace my ilx as a daily.
hopefully it not too expensive.
The current 2020 A-Spec V6 with SHAWD starts at $44.8k. Really hope the new one (Type S) stays under $50k and maybe even 46k, knowing Acura’s desire to increase market share.

Using current gen TLX prices, a fully loaded Advance SH-AWD goes for about $48K. I have a feeling the Type S is going to push it into the $52-$55K range.

I believe they are trying to compete with the M340i/S4.

Lower the better of course but I’m hoping for it to be in the 50-55. That’s the assumption I had in my mind also based on current prices.

I wish that the Type S will be a mid 40s starting MSRP. For sure it will be in the mid 50s.
If is in the mid 40s the basic TypeS sign me in.

Don't forget the Q50 RedSport, Genesis G70 and Kia Stinger.

All of them can be used as price reference.

TBH, feels like Acura’s trying to match a KIA Stinger GT2 from two years ago. I hope they succeed. This guy probably helped to sell a million of them. It’s a great car to copy.

Articles I've seen indicate more than likely 50-60 unfortunately

Would have to wait and see until test drives come out, but an Aspec SH-AWD version might not be the worst (especially considering a tune would probably net you another 40hp with a conservative tune), and that should probably be in the mid $40K range.

(Destined my ass. There’s a new 3.0L V6)
Ok, maybe the non-S, 282hp.

Post CTR - TLX Type S
Ok, i no doubt love my FK8. I felt the same emotion before with a Ridgeline turned Into a Type R (just because I could)
In the past 13 years we’ve had two Acura MDXs. The return of a Type S has my pulse up already.
I have my eyes fixed on the next car even though I’ll enjoy the heck out of this ‘19 CTR until the day we part.
So, 20121 brings back the ATS after 13 years, bravo Acura. With a TLX S WAG price around low $40s, can do. What changed?
New 3L engine, single scroll turbo, quad Brembos even bigger than NSX, five inches longer, 3 inches wider, New DWS, nexgen SHAWD (rear bias), likely 400hp range and probably more than that in torque. If you need me Kia Stinger, I’ll be two traffic lights ahead. Bummer no manual but the 10 speed auto should suffice, leave Supra behind? Prolly. Genocide Genesis? Maybe.
Certainly looks promising for me in 2022 as I have had some issues with first year models. AMGs, be ready.
Check it out?

On paper the Stinger looks great, and I'm sure it is. The only issue I have with it (outside the no MT option) is the visibility out of the rear. Looking in the rear view mirror, you get a sliver of window out of the back :(

These are so clearly not the same car, I don't know how you could conflate the two.

From a quick glance:
-Civic has a swage line beginning from headlights and running back, Acura has one at a different height that runs higher and begins at the front wheel well
-Door handles are at different heights/locations/alignments
-Roof line is totally different, including the angles of front and rear glass
-Rear of the Civic Type R is much higher (plus the wing)
-Rear door size and shape is totally different
-Front and rear side glass profile is totally different - the Acura has 3 side windows and the Civic has 2, plus the Acura has a Hofmeister kink
-Front bumper and grilles are different (taped off but still clearly different)
-Headlights are different
-Front wheel well of the Civic ends directly below the windscreen, but there is a significant space on the Acura
-Wheel well shaping is totally different between the 2 cars
-Different caliper placement, front and rear
-Acura's wheelbase is at least a foot longer than the Civic's
-Hood profile is entirely different

All that to say, the camo car is an 11th Gen CTR hatchback prototype, it's clearly not a much larger Acura sedan.
I aligned and scaled by the rotors/wheels just because because they both have 20 inch rims. The issue with that though is the vehicles have different ride heights so the rest of the body doesn't line up. I could have lined it up better adjusting for camera calibration, etc... You have to admit, they are pretty similar shapes.

Most of the points you made are correct so...
It must be the new RSX Type S ?

3.0L single turbo (twin scroll) v6. Hopefully it comes with high 300.

The regular TLX gets the same powerplant from the RDX and transmission which is why the power is the exact same and will allow it to use the same SH-AWD system.

the Type S is probably going to be mid to high 50k and with a pretty hefty markup.

I’ll take mine in white. The dilemma is sell now or trade it in later next spring; seems far away.

Idk the Type-S body kind of reminds of me of the TRD Camry lol. At least from the side
