I kind of wish Hyundai would bring over the i30 Fastback. It's a cool little car especially in N form.

Yeah, looks wise I like both models, but the longer trunk is appealing. I feel like the US might like this model - but sounds like we'll get the Elantra N instead, which doesn't interest me since I hate the new design.

My guess is the N line will feature the 201hp / 195tq 1.6 turbo, dual clutch / 6 speed, bigger wheels/tires, sport suspension and styling tweaks. No LSD though.

Lack of an LSD is really disappointing.

It's a little odd, it makes it more of a Sport hatch competitor than a GTI/Si competitor. I suspect a hotter version of the Elantra will come eventually, hopefully in 5-door hatch form. No interest in the sedan.

I'm not understanding why Hyundai is still offering that lethargic 2.0 engine as the standard engine in the regular Elantra. It's less powerful than the 2.0 that comes in my Civic, Hyundai should have followed Honda and offered the 1.6 turbo as an option in regular elantras. For the "N-line" version then, put in the same 1.6 turbo but in a higher state of tune and couple it with an LSD and DCT/MT transmission options and you got a solid setup.

It's be about perfect with an LSD. I think the turbo is too expensive for the base car though.

Can't seem to copy the text but EVO magazine interviewed Albert Biermann and he said they are really going to grow the N brand over the next 5 years.

I think you'll see hotter Hyundais coming soon.

Cars are wonderful to get excited over. Just not the ones that depreciate so quickly.
For example:
Velositor N MSRP of $31,800 After one year with only 10K of mileage has a value of $21500-21700.
Volkswagon GTI SE with an MSRP of $33800 with same data is worth about $200 more than the above.
Talk about married and buried in your vehicle....

I was reading that the 2021 Hyundai Elantra new design will be shown on live stream, on March 17th. This new Hyundai, will be going up against the Civic and Corolla since Ford and Chevy have decided to go the SUV route. Notably in the article it stated that "Elantra is returning to it's sports sedan roots". I'm guessing that they're also trying to go up against the SI. Since the Elantra sport hasn't done much up against the SI. It will be interesting to see what Hyundai does. What are your thoughts on the new release?

I remember back when I was going to get my hands on a 2018 Elantra Soort with DCT... that model design was very beautiful

Based on what? If I look at Cars.com, the cheapest one in the country is $23k, it's black, worst color for that car, and there are several low mileage 2019s asking $24-25k and they don't even have the Performance Package. There's only 10 used 2019s in the whole country. You'd have to be stupid to buy a 2019 when you can get 0% interest for 6 years and 3 years free maintenance for a 2020.

The problem with the Veloster is not resale, it's that the market for a goofy 3-door hatchback is really limited. Bring the fastback and watch sales double.

You can get a new GTI SE w/ experience for $26k right now, so not surprising if a 1 year old one is $22k.

Literally i30 > Veloster N. I can't to see the Hyundai Elantra N-Line and hopefully the full N variant.

You may be referring to an "S", but surely not the SE. But what you are not including are the "Packages & Options" that add onto the MSRP. Those are determined at POE (Point of Embarkation) and are a permanent marker on the price as well. They aren't like things that are added to the 2nd addendum that you see at dealerships either.
The 2019's don't have the performance package because that went out after the '16 models. The newer models are already at 228hp - so, the performance package & brakes became standard.

I will retract my "gross" claim of depreciation for the GTI SE by saying that it is one of a hum-dinger in the DSG. The engine volume & turbo are sized perfectly.
