Yea I get what you mean. I guess what I am trying to say is that the Type R LE doesn't seem all that different/ special. Wish they had a power upgrade or something. My last car was a bmw m2 and a lot of the software can be changed in terms of electronic steering. Maybe one day a tuner can change the regular 2020 type R to LE settings.
I mean... I don't think the LE is systematically different. All the bits that are different are achievable on the standard if you have the means and time to go through doing the hardware and cosmetic changes. We're not talking about a difference between a GT3 and a GT3 RS here.

What is up with that $500 increase...its the same as MY2020 roght?
Consider yourself lucky that you're not in Canada. We got a $2000 increase from 2019 to 2020...AND another $2500 increase from 2020 to 2021.

Our CTR LE MSRP is $56,400.

I can't explain the 2021 increase, but the 2020 increase was warranted with the significant improvements to brakes, cooling, suspension, wheel bearings, and the entire Honda sensing suite. It's actually a bargain price for all of that. Another $2500 for 2021 though probably just because it's the last production year, so no real value there.

Looks like 2020 will end up being by far the best year for value, all things considered.

By that logic, 2017 would be the best value.

Evolutional improvements for 2020 resulting in a ~4.6% increase in price isn't value to me.

Strong demand and managing supply enables Honda to raise prices.

Maybe same situation with the Nissan GT-R. Started in the US 75k mark around 2008 and now over 100k. But GT-R is a lot more limited in numbers. More so to be glad if you got a 2020, the only thing seem good about this year at the moment.

What 2016 CTR would you be comparing the 2017 to? Nothing was sold in North America to my knowledge since the 90's. 2017 was great value for what you got, but it is the baseline being the first year.

All I am saying is what they added for 2020 from 2019 is worth way more than $2000, and if sold as separate options would total far more than $2000. In that sense it's a bargain. There were no changes to the CTR from 2017-2019 aside from a volume knob and minor infotainment revisions, so obviously those price increases sucked. For 2021 there are zero changes to my knowledge, so that $2500 bump also sucks.

If they're going to increase the price every year anyway, at least in 2020 you got a bunch of real upgrades for the extra money.

Canadian MSRPs:

2018 $42,890 - Zero changes
2019 $43,490 - Volume knob & minor infotainment changes
2020 $45,491 - Full Honda sensing suite, 2pc aluminium floating rotors w/revised pads, 10X faster active damper adjustments, alcantara wheel, new shift knob, new bushings, new ball joints, ASC, LOG-R,
2021 $48,001 - Zero changes

It's pretty clear the 2020 is the best value within the FK8 lineup, assuming you want the upgrades. That's all I'm saying.

Understand. But, as you've shown, the annual price increases have been significant. But there have been only minor changes to the car (including the 2020 changes). Hence the 2017 was arguably the best value.

Anyway, enjoy your CTR.

I wouldn't buy a 2017-2019 CTR if I lost my current car. 2020's Sensing is a game changer for during real world commuting/driving. It's worth the $ to me.

To each their own.

If in the future I was again looking for a CTR I would want it to be a 2020/2021. Those features are something I wanted and really enjoy in my Mazda (along with stuff you can’t get like a sunroof and heated seats). But those features are just added bonuses for people who use the car to commute and I definitely would want them.

new bushings
new brakes
new radiator
faster dampers
visual changes on the exterior/interior
and honda sensing

2020 is basically a type r 2.0

hardly “minor”

No value in debating what's minor or not but the only add is Honda Sensing. If you like this tech, then that's a true positive. The other changes are minor improvements that make a great car even better.
