Hey everyone.

So I am debating between a used 17/18 Si or a new 2020 SI. IMO a used 2019 isnt really worth it because after taxes and fees I will probably pay around 23-24k, so for about 2 -3k more I might as well get a brand new 2020. I dont care for the Honda Sensing features, so it basically just comes down to the updated look/styling. My main deterrent for buying a used 17/18 is the AC issues that everyone is having. I know there is a TSB out for the compressor but it seems that overall the AC system sucks. Does anyone know if this issue has been fully address for the 2020 model year?

I know i can get a 17/18 si for about 20-21k probably with like 20-30k miles, which according to the posts that i see on the forums, will save me around 5-6k from a new 2020. I would probably put about 3k into the car as soon as I get it, just to do coilovers, flashpro/ktuner, intake and I want some aftermarket LED Headlights. I know people say the stock headlights are better but i really just want the look lol.

So it comes out to having a used slightly modified car for about 23k or a brand new un modified car for 26k. I wouldn't mess with the 2020 si just because of warranty.

My main concern would be AC System. What do you guys think should I just get a 2020 or is the 17/18 worth it?

Thanks!

People can quote me if I’m wrong, but Honda stated they fixed “oil dilution” for 2020 as it was a common issue for 10th gen (forcing people to change oil much sooner than expected). I was in the same boat as you choosing between 2020 vs previous models. I didn’t care for the Honda Sensing and such, but the dealership didn’t have any 2019 models in stock so I ended with a 2020. After having my 2020 for almost 6 months, I enjoy it a lot. I like sensing for long drives, the volume knob, and the upgraded headlights (which I believe they are the type r headlights?). 2020 is nice to have, but 2019 and below are just as great!

The 2020 does offer some nice upgrades over the older cars (LED headlights, etc),

IMO, It would really depend on how cheap you can get the pre-facelift car.
