Looking to upgrade my 2019 CTR shifter but I still have a few questions. Here are the parts I believe I need.

Shifter Assmebly part# 54100-TGH-G01---Shifter

Collar nut Part# 54103-TGH-G00--Lock Nut

Panel Assembly, Escutcheon *R159L* (Mt) (UH2DR-Side Red)
$74.74
Part # 77296-TGH-A11ZA--New boot. I just like to new boot over the leather one.

So here is my question. Do I have to buy the new lock nut if I'm going to use a different shift knob, or is it completely different and I have to buy it to make it work for any shift knob?

Just curious, is it for the "feel" that you are changing it? Did you adjust the clutchpedal/CMC?

You only need the new lock nut if you plan to use the new 2020 shift boot. However, there is an issue with Honda with the 2020 boot that has not yet resolved. The 2017-2019 boot is being shipped in boxes with the 2020 boot part number.

Any shift knob will work with the 2017-2019 lock nut but you gain about 1/2" in height. I bought the 2020 lock nut with intentions with buying the 2020 boot. Since then, I went with Sweidit. I have a 2020 lock nut still in package that I will let go for $35 shipped. You can use the 2020 lock nut with the 2017-2019 boot with added two washers between the nut and shift knob.

The lock nut works with the shift boot collar to lock the shift boot into place. You'll definitely need it. You don't have to upgrade the shift boot though if you're using a non-2020 locking nut.

No. I just wanted the reduced throw and shorter sitting shifter.

I replaced the shifter in my '18 with the 2020 shifter and I can confirm it is a shorter shitting shifter!!

Joking aside, it is a modest improvement over the '18. I have a Raceseng knob so I can't answer your lockout question.

yes, it sure does. the center console removal is time consuming but is not very difficult. the hardest part is releasing the silly clips that hold the wires and connectors in place.

Does anyone know if the 2020 knob will fit on a 2019 Civic Si? I like the teardrop design and would like to change the current knob just for the look but I’m not sure if it’ll fit or if I need to buy the nut as well.

It should be able to fit without issue. They are the same threading.

Awesome appreciate the response. So the new type R lock nut only adds a bit of height from my Si nut? If that’s the case I’ll just buy the knob itself.
