Does anyone here have the full 2020 shifter setup yet? Lever, knob and boot. Looking for feedback on the throw and feel. For ~$200 seems like a good upgrade.

  1. Lever Sub-Assembly, Change
    $35.91
    Part # 54100-TGH-G01
  2. Knob, Change Lever
    $95.67
    Part # 54102-TGH-G00
  3. Panel Assembly, Escutcheon *R159L* (Mt) (UH2DR-Side Red)
    $74.74
    Part # 77296-TGH-A11ZA

You do need one more part, the locking nut for the shifter which is like 40 dollars as well. So you'd need 4 total parts: shifter, shift knob, shift knob locking lug, and shift boot. I've got the knob and lock nut and I've seen others have the new shifter (I don't remember if they have the knob and lock nut though, if they are, they could already test how well the setup would work but just deal with a flappy shift boot). No one, to my knowledge, has gotten the new shift boot yet in the US since Honda's warehouse had a mishap that caused 2019 shift boots to ship in place of 2020 shift boots.

Good to know, thanks for the info! Do you happen to have the part number on the expensive locking nut lol. Im really curious to hear impressions of both the shift lever and knob, as they are obviously made to work with each other. I haven't been a huge fan of aftermarket short shifters, and always prefer OEM if possible.

Edit: Collar nut Part number: 54103-TGH-G00

The shifter is better is better on the 2020, its slightly shorter and the knob is heavier making shifts more deliberate and precise

Thanks for the feedback! I’m still debating on upgrading and trying to get some feedback if it is worth it. How much shorter do you feel it is over the previous?

I have a buddy with a 10th gen Si, I have a type r. He drove my type r and fell in love with the shifter. He ended up doing the swap over to a 19 type r shifter. He said it was the best mod he couldve done for under 100 bucks. I went the hybrid racing route, so Its hard for me to compare. But I have a feeling you really cant go wrong. I'm sure it will make a nice difference.

The locking nut brings it down about ⅜". Another member on here who installed the shifter itself said that brought it down ½" of an inch. So if you do everything then you'll bring it down nearly 1". Though if you use the new shift knob, it'll sit a bit higher (about the same height as the red leather accessory knob that Honda offers).

Shifting feels a lot better. Maybe slightly shorter throw. Knob height maybe about the same or slightly lower even though the shaft is actually shorter. I did some measurements for the two shifters before installation and for the shift knobs after installing the 2020 shifter. Maybe you can put the two measurements together and compare.

This was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Thank you so much for finding this post and linking your findings, it is tremendously helpful. I think I’m sold now ?

Anyone have the part number for the shift boot alone?
In the first post, part #3 is the boot. But from what I understand, Honda isn’t shipping the correct alcantara boot yet, so hold off.
