I just wonder if we are ever going to get a "full JDM built" type R from Japan since the Swinden plant will be closing. Imaging what the dealership would be asking for something like that.

Civic Hatchback production is moving from Swindon (UK) to North America, from everything I've read anyway (and from Honda's CEO's comments). I assume that means the Type R as well since the engine is already made in Ohio.

A division manager from Honda Manufacturing said the 10th Gen Civic will be in production until July 29, 2021, so whatever Type R comes next will almost certainly be a 2022-2023 model. That made me feel a bit better about buying a MY2020 haha.

I know it says estimated, but how are they calculating a 4.1 0-60 time on the CTR? The fastest I have seen is 4.9, but I wouldn't be surprised if it could do 4.1 if they could somehow hook it up. Just never seen that much of difference advertised before.

They also said the CTR was by far the fastest car in the group (I assume they mean on track), which was nice to read alongside the $76K USD CLA45 AMG.

Looks like they screwed up and listed the Mercedes time for the CTR:

AMG CLA 45 Coupe Specifications
  • Passenger capacity.
  • Handcrafted AMG 2.0L inline-4 turbo.
  • 382 hp. Power.
  • AMG SPEEDSHIFT® DCT 8-speed dual-clutch. Automatic transmission.
  • 11.6 cu ft. Cargo capacity.
  • 4.0 sec 0-60 mph **
  • 20 mpg † City fuel economy.
  • 29 mpg †

I'm pretty sure they had the Mercedes at 3.8 seconds in that test, so if the AMG was 4.1, what was 3.8? It might just be completely wrong, hard to say.

Thank you for sharing this

The closing paragraph brings a huge smile to my face:

“The Civic Type R proves that a front-drive performance car can be as engaging as its rear-drive counterparts—or even more so. Like all the best driver's cars, this Honda pushes and prods you to learn more about both its limits and your own. Must be why it's the highest-finishing front-driver in BDC history, an honorable fourth place in 2018—a sub-$40K car finishing right on the heels of a $340,000 Lamborghini, a $330,000 Porsche, and a $375,000 McLaren. And that was before all the updates made for 2020. So much for wrong-wheel drive.”

I've owned many cars before including, Cayman S and a bunch of M cars. And only this car has brought more satisfaction as an everyday sports car in my book.
