Sold my 2020 Si sedan (loved that car) cause we moved to Taiwan for a 2-3 year work assignment.

Think we will take the opportunity to get a car we can’t get in the US, a Focus ST Line Lommel X. It’s $30k, 185 hp turbo 1.5L 3 cylinder, 8 speed auto only. 12” digital cockpit. There’s a 6mT Focus ST but its $47k. o_O

Its surprisingly nice, like almost 7th gen GTI quality, and incredibly roomy. I liked the Corolla hatch sport, the seats and driving position are great, but it was just too small in the back seat. Focus has literally 6” more legroom.

ST for 47k lol.... Good luck there. To each their own. Personally I hate hatchbacks but type r is more than bearable. Ford hatchbacks look like shit to me but if you are a family man then maybe put it to some use.

yeah cars are expensive here if imported, which includes most Japanese cars except a few that made here like Nissan Kicks or Toyota Corolla Cross.

A loaded Mazda3 is $40k.
A GTI starts at $53k.

I love hatchbacks. I’d get a 10th or 11th gen Civic hatch but Taiwan Honda has only SUVs.

I wish we still had the Focus line here is the states. Might as well get something that is different and not offered in in NA.

Right? I’d get the Yaris GR4 but it’s $60k here lol. Kids will fit better in the Focus too.

European mags rave about the Focus.

Holy shit on Mazda 3. With that information go with the 30k Ford. Never thought I'd recommend Ford but there is a time for everything. Plus you love hatchbacks. Whatever makes you happy (and wife) screw everyone else including me.

Yeah my wife and I were like “I can’t believe we’re in Taiwan and walking into a Ford dealership.”

it does have a ton of features, like the rear view mirror shows a front or rear camera image and automatically records video for you. And it has a 675W B&O stereo, no idea if it’s any good.

Great cars wish they had brought the new ones here -
I had a 16 ST3
CPE Intake
DEPO Racing intercooler
Thermal R&D Exhaust
CNT Racing Catless Downpipe
4 port aux fuel
WMI
Gen2 GTX2867 R (.64 ar)
STX Coilovers

Really enjoyed this car.

It does, but it looked like this before Kia did lol.
Apparently the Focus is the #8 vehicle in Taiwan, I’ve been seeing a lot of them. There’s very few sedan/hatch choices here, especially under $40k. Everything is CUVs.

Off topic but how is it over there, with the china threats and all
everything seems normal and people don’t seem concerned at all. But it’s still Covid crazy, we had to quarantine after arrival and everyone is masking even outdoors and in school. It sucks.

Test drove the Focus today and we bought one. :D

$28k, thanks to a soaring US dollar. The car drives awesome, very comfortable but great steering, a real driver's car. What a shame we don't get them in the US.

8 speed auto only in Taiwan. I kept looking for a clutch pedal. :(
