This feels like speculation to me, and also you think the Markups are bad now.....oh man.

Also didnt the plant reopen? Take this with a small grain of salt + 2021 is confirmed production of Type R's. Even if you dont get one now they will bring over more next year.

I was talking to my dealer about possibly upgrading, and they said they had no problems with being able to order one if I wanted. Unfortunately, as much as I considered it, I also considered the fact that the price difference in MSRP+destination before taxes between my 18 and the 20 is significant enough to make it so without a ridiculous trade in value, I couldn't make it work without another large down payment.

Needless to say I'm keeping my 2018, but if there is a shortage that sure is interesting...

Apparently ordering one is ok but order fulfilment prolly won't happen

Personally I think you're better off that way. Even if you were to go through the hell of finding one at MSRP I don't think the improvements would make a big enough difference to justify the extra cost.

No, not when I've already paid off over 35% of my current one. Just a bunch of would-be-nice things.

I wouldn't trust that article at all. It cites another article (CarBuzz) which flat out has errors and provable false assumptions.

The CB article says that 2020 year cars might just be sold as 2021 year cars, and this was written on June 5th, 2020. More than 2 weeks AFTER 2020 CTRs we're available in the US (I bought mine May 21st). So who knows where CB got their info, but it sure wasn't based on reality.

The H-T article doesn't have those errors, but provides nothing else that is reliable at all. Sounds like it's all speculation and day dreaming to me.

I think they’ll only make the Limited Edition for 2021 model year. The plant will be closed in 2021. I don’t think they have the resources to make another full run for 2021 basic model.

Local news in the UK seemed to indicate that the plant opened back up over two weeks ago, but not at full capacity. I also don’t know what the typical mix of production is over there. They build all of the hatches, not just the Type R’s.
