I would definitely get the Accord. I bought a civic touring over two years ago. My income has increased a lot over the past couple of years, so I wish I would have gotten the Accord. Hindsight is 20/20 though. Since I'm financially responsible, I will keep my civic for about 8 more years and then get the new 2026 Accord.

I like the Accord better for features, but I use my hatch all the time. And to be fair, I love the small car driving dynamics of the Civic. Honestly, the perfect car for me would have been either a Civic R with the auto (I know, burn the heretic) or just the 2.0 turbo and auto in some loaded luxury trim of the Civic (platinum? elite? etc).

I test drove a new Accord Touring 1.5 liter this evening, and a new CRV EX-L. They didn't have a 2.0 Accord Touring in stock. The Accord was obviously more upscale than my EX-T Civic, however I saw pros/cons to both.

I prefer my Civic in certain aspects: Heated seats in my car are hot and get that way quickly. The Accord seats took longer to warm up and they didn't feel as warm. Not sure if it's because mine are cloth. The Civic is lighter and more responsive in regards to steering, acceleration, it's smaller and feels fun to drive. The lumbar support was disappointing in the Accord, compared to other cars I've driven with lumbar support like my parents 2003 Mercury. The seats were still comfortable and slightly better than the Civic. I put the Accord in sport mode and it didn't feel as quick as "S" mode on the Civic. The 2.0 would probably eliminate that disadvantage. Personal preference, but I like the look and placement of the touchscreen in the Civic better. Overall, if on a budget the Civic is fun and has value with a lot to offer.

The advantages to the Accord I noticed: Interior was more upscale by a long shot. Resolution was better on the touchscreen, the backup camera was crystal clear, it was more responsive. Liked the huge armrest and center console. Really liked the heads up display. It recognized every speed limit sign I drove by. Headlights and fog lights were superior. Trunk looked deep. Passengers in the backseat had more legroom and slightly more headroom. The Accord was quiet, very little road noise, even with the wheels being 19". Accord has knee airbags, Civic does not. If I had the money I would choose the Accord. The Civic is great for short trips, but I feel like the Accord would be better and more comfortable on long road trips.

Just before I bought my HBST last January compact cars were completely not on my radar and when I went to Honda dealers I haven't even heard about civicx.

The price difference is not relevant, and Accord is a great car, particularly the 2.0t versions. But I would still remain with my HBST today, if not, I would rather get a CRV before accord, or optimally civic 2.0t, only not the spartan Type R but Type Touring deluxe CVT for similar price, if it existed. It so nicely leaves some free space in the garage and burns so little gas.

I wish there was a civic 2.0T touring cvt available I would definitely get that over the accord. I really don't care much about fuel efficiency but more of the power and the only reason I'm not going for the type R is because they only have it in manual transmission.

No, money is not an issue here. I just like a sporty looking car and the new gen accord looks aggressive than previous gen that's why I'm considering it now than ever.

Another major consideration for me is the digital speedometer which is standard for the civic, however, I found out that the accord touring can also have the digital speedometer so it's a win. The only thing I am undecided now is the cargo capacity of the hatchback vs the accord which should still be pretty decent anyway.
What are the types of things you have to haul around (sizes and frequency) that the benefits of the Hatch outweigh the Accords trunk space? ie, you have two dogs you like to travel with in cages? large boxes for your side hustle as an Amazon delivery driver? Is it only a few times a year you load up family and gear for a road trip?

Overall, the Accord is the "nicer" car and likely better equipped. Is its large trunk enough?

The thing is I am a musician and I always transport my rig to multiple gigs throughout the year. I carry multiple guitars and double stack amplifiers which are 4x12 along with other accessories but those are the ones that always require a lot of space. I don't really go much on a roadtrip maybe once a year but then when I do I can imagine the hatchback would be nice for the space although the accord will probably be the more comfortable ride for long trips?

Grab your gear and head to the dealer. Which one fits your life.. spend 10 minutes trying it out before you spend tons of money on something that isn't right.. (ie, realize you need a CR-V ;) )

Funny you say that...realistically if I had the budget for a CR-V Touring, probably would of bought one.

Well the thing is I like to have a sporty looking car so CR-V is out of the question, so I guess what I'm looking for is a car that has good cargo space while still looking aggressive/sporty. Reason why I'm finally considering the accord now than ever is because of the sporty look of the 10th gen otherwise I would just stick to the civic hatchback.

I would go with the Civic Sport Hatchback as it's very sporty looking and has the cargo room you're looking for. I have the Civic Si and it's a great car I just long for a Sport hatchback because I really could use the room. The Sport Hatch is just too practical to pass up. Plus, the Accord is going to need a year or two to get the kinks out since it's a new gen.

I just got a 2021 Accord Touring in SPG. In my opinion it is SO much better than my 2016 Civic Touring that I just got rid of. The only thing I miss about my Civic is the Lane Watch camera, turning radius, and the ability to mute the Navigation. The Accord is better in every other way.
