I’ve heard rumors of the 2019 Civic Si having Vtec. Anyone confirm this??

It's VTC, not VTEC; their marketing folks are still smoking the same stuff they were back when the 2017 Si was announced...

Definitely not true. The '19 is the same ol' same ol' as far as engines go.

What is Vtec? A way to get more air into the engine. The Si has a turbo... no need for that second valve and extra lift because the turbo is doing the job. If anything, the turbo becomes the limiting factor at higher RPMs. Our engines have variable valves- just not screaming Vtec (yo) from the earlier generations.

That isn't to say our engine is a slacker. It has a lot going on and is very efficient. Check this out ~2min video:

In the press release, it mentions that the critically acclaimed vtec turbo engines that everyone loves are returning. Marketing fucked up again. Someone isn't proof reading over there. Or, if I'm wrong, they will be putting the same VTEC Turbo 1.5t in the civic as they have in the base accord (which currently has the 1.5t turbo vtec).

Next generation will most likely get it (the detuned 2.0) but the current Si will not.

Theres a pattern I've noticed over the years

92-95 si = meh
99-00 si = good
01-05 si = meh
06-11 si = good
12-15 si = meh/good
16-18 = (you can be the judge)

But do you think next gen will get the detuned 2.0?

I thought this generations was a "VTEC Turbo" hencing why in other countries they have the emblem for "VTEC Turbo".

On the other hand the Type R has actual VTEC (Outlet only) and a Turbo. EE does a great job explaining this

Trend improved

92-95 si = SOHC 1.6 MEH VTEC
99-00 si = DOHC 1.6 Good VTEC
01-05 si = DOHC 2.0 meh iVTEC
06-11 si = DOHC 2.0 Good iVTEC
12-15 si = DOHC 2.4 meh iVTEC
16-18 = SOHC 1.5 Turbo
Next gen = DOCH 2.0 Turbo

Pretty sure it's DOCH like usual.

I'll be half surprised if they bother making the Si next generation. Hopefully they're selling well enough to stay afloat!

I don't see them putting a 2.0t in the si. It would compete too much with the typer.
