Thought I’d post a thread detailing my build so far. To get you familiarized, I bought my 2018 Civic Hatchback Sport in polished metal metallic from my local dealership in August of ‘19. It was a leased vehicle prior to my ownership with only 12000km on it.

Fast forward to the spring of 2020 “covid era” as my car remained bone stock until then. I slowly started getting acquainted with modding my car, it started with some red JDM logos, red pin striping on my trim, and upgraded headlight bulbs. After that, I decided to get some 20mm H&R wheel spacers, and at the time was happy with my OEM rims. Was happy with the way the stance was after throwing the spacers in. I got a DTO Duckbill spoiler from eBay and love the way it looks on the hatch without making the back end too busy. Following this, I had purchased HRS LED taillights and Morimoto OE+ LED headlights, and boy did that change the look. Super pumped with the functionality and general aesthetic they provide. Next was the rear diffuser, which I bought straight from the dealership as it’s the standard diffuser on the 2020 models. After that was all said and done, tax return came! So naturally, it was burning a hole in my pocket and I got a set of Avid1 AV-20 wheels in matte black, 18x8 +45 (reminder I have the 20mm spacers).

so what’s next?
waiting on some parts to come in, Covid really bent me over for wait times on this stuff. I have Swift Spec R springs on route, Abs Dynamics Type R lip that will be here soon and heading for a glossy black paint job, SPC performance camber arms, LED Smoked side markers, and some other small odds and ends. I’ve pretty well finished my summer checklist, and performance parts are around the corner.

You went 0 to 100 real quick!

I get excited every time I see the 2020 diffuser, looks so much better. My order is in but backordered until June 29. Loving those wheels too. Sorry to see you got one of the new license plates though! lol

How is that Type-R like front lip?
I've been thinking of replacing my factory one...since some asshole(s) on my street decided to leave a couple flattened metal plant cages on the road when they moved out, and scrapped / damaged the sh!t out of the bottom of mine.

Those look like the switchback smoked LED side markers I have.
Be careful about moisture build-up in those, as moisture seeps in through the single wire hole.
I had a set die because of the moisture getting in and corroding the wiring, and the connector.
I'm on my second set now, and same thing happened; the driver side marker JUST gave out.
(Luckily the connector is still okay this time)

love the type R lip. It’s smaller in size than an OEM Type R lip but provides that square look instead of the snub nose side profile you get with the sport lip, definitely recommend painting should you choose to get one! Installation was fairly simple, had to wing most of it but everything snapped in to place and had no issues.

good to know about the side markers! we’re in the middle of what seems to be a 1 month+ dry, hot drought so haven’t had much chance to build up moisture, I’ll make sure to keep an eye on it.

Update: got a hondata flash pro tuner and it’s been a crazy difference. Running a base tune of 91 octane +6 psi w/ increased throttle response, and after some data logging now improved to 210HP from 178HP stock with no other supporting parts. Makes the car way more fun to drive, and makes me want to spent more money making it even faster. On top of that, after 1.5 months of waiting, swift has finally shipped out my Spec R springs that I’ve been waiting patiently for. Hopefully those are going in next week!

Swift Spec R springs are here and installed, here’s some pics now that they’re settled. 1.1” square drop and super stoked that these worked out. Running a total of +25 offset (+45 wheels on 20mm spacers) no rubbing, no rolling needed. Install took about 3 hours between my buddy and I at a leisurely pace. The overall feel of these springs are arguably better than OEM for daily driving and certainly more responsive when you push them.

next up I’ve got some odds and ends coming in, doing some carbon fibre pieces in the interior to match the custom wheel I ordered from Advanced Carbon Fiber, pumped for it to come through!

New steering wheel has yet to arrive but in the meantime, new exhaust and diffuser are installed! Type R OEM exhaust and ABS dynamics type r replica diffuser painted in glossy black. Every time I figure I’m done adding more parts, more things pop in to mind. I think a Seibon hood may be Next... til then going to enjoy the car as it sits especially with the updated tunes from Hondata!
