Did you drive a GolfR to a test drive of an Si?
Nope... Thats my R.

My buddy was in the market for a 4 door commuter so I suggested a Si. He came by my house so we can test it out.

He wont be buying a Si after the test drive.

@Psy-q, can you see if you can tune to SiriusXM channel 341 (Utopia)? The SiriusXM receiver in my '17 Ridgeline can receive the "Xtra" channels in the 300s, but my brother's '16 Civic could not. I'm afraid the '17 Si won't, either.
Nothing in the 300s. Sorry.
I am happy to report that my '17 Si does receive the SiriusXM Xtra channels. Either the receiver was upgraded since the '16 Civic or the Si has a more capable receiver.

That's interesting, I wonder if that means it also has a faster processor or any other upgraded hardware.

There is quite a bit of lag. 1st gear really only makes power from 3500rpm and onward. I revved it out to 6500rpm limiter and it was still making decent power so I didnt quite feel the power taper off as others have.

There is alot of rev hang. Traction control cannot be turned off. When shifting from 1-2 the car cuts power and dies. Not very inspiring or rewarding when compared to my 2008 Si.
I find a couple statements quite interesting...considering that the '17 makes more torque at 2100 rpm than the '08 Si makes at ANY point in the rev range...

Yes but that has a stipulation. The engine has to have sufficient loading time to spool the turbo. 1st gear does not provide this. At 2100rpm you make as much torque as a low compression non-turbo 1.5l engine. So not much.

Planting my foot to the floor in 3rd gear I was not hitting boost until 3200rpm or so. When in 1st gear full throttle it was around 3500rpm.

Go test driving and try it.... Im not just making it up lol. Its got lag.

I am noticing the Wi-Fi icon, does the car have Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities or is that just from your phone?

2100 RPM you say...

Here is another review. He also states 3500rpm. Skip to 4 minutes.

So your stance, is that Honda has purposefully engaged in mass false advertising of the torque output on the 2017 Civic Si?
Well I think the answer to that is no. All they have to prove is their engine can make peak torque at 2100rpm.... If you take the engine and put it on a test bench, put it in 6th gear, and go WOT for a good 5-10 seconds, Than it should actually do the fugues they suggest. Also assuming atmospheric conditions are standardized (20c temp and 101.3kpa atmospheric)

In the real world, with warm weather, hot engine bay air, altitude, and gearing, it simply cannot do it.

It either makes the power, or it doesn't...I doubt Honda would go out of their way to be that overly shady with the just the Si...

I guess we'll see how dyno graphs look once tuners start getting cars in their shops
