Hi Iscavnicar,

Have you had any issues with the roof bars so far?

I’ve bought a 2017 hatchback with a glass roof and am experiencing the same problem. I need to have a roof rack installed so I can put my roof box on the car when going to ski.

Have you already used the roof rack and have you adjusted the rubber feet of the roof bars?

Please let me know, because I’m not sure what to do now.

Thanks in advance.
Hi Nistap,

yes, I tried it during Summer, did 1300km with it installed and no issues at all. Only paranoia that kids will open sunroof while roof rack is installed :).
Anyway, this kit is much better than Honda kit and at half price.
I also cut rubber foot so it doesnt sit on glass at all.

Hi Geolemon,

Have you already installed and used the roof rack with the KIT1852 rubber feet?

And if so, what are your experiences?

Thanks in advance
I have installed it, it's been on my car for months now - including many trips to the hardware store, I even strapped my ladder to my roof to bring home 7 square of siding, and all my corner posts, J-channel, starter strip, and other supplies on the roof. I have an unlimited subscription account at my local Delta Sonic car wash, it hasn't been a problem. Fits nicely and has stayed put without issue.

I even asked for a truck loading ramp for Xmas this year - I'm going to attach Yakima roof rack mounts to it, to give me a lightweight flatbed I can attach to bring lumber home.

Just bear in mind, the limit is about 125-150 pounds of weight on the roof.
If you have the Touring model with the sunroof, I'm worried that it might be even more limited - but if you cut the feet so it doesn't actually touch the glass it may be totally fine. No idea. But mine fits well.

Thanks for the response. I already assumed that the real reason of not supporting cars with the glass roof is the fact that the roof does not fit between the foots of the roof rack when it is opened. I'll order a kit and will make sure that the feet won't be able to touch the glass.

Thanks for the response. I'll install the Thule roof rack.

I will only be using it for the ski holiday, so the weight should not be an issue.

Looks sick. What brand of rack and box is that?

Pics of the thule rack installed?
I'll post pics when the rack is installed. It will take some time, have to order the foot kit first :)

Yakima baseline rack system on the Type R (clips 186 & 187). I’m pretty excited to get out and go kayaking this summer!

Got out this weekend. Love being able to throw the kayak on the R.

Yea, both of those trims are not issue, problem is with our EU Sport+ trim which has glass roof.
Anyway, Thule rack works fine, confirmed.

Wow! I love that roof! Plus the EU version has a deeper cargo bay and auto folding mirrors, right? Man the euro version is so beautiful!

For those of you with the Yakima baseline towers, what base clips did you use for the front and rear. I had mine installed for me and rear pads looks like a perfect fit for the rear, but the front there's a gap and part of the pad i son the roof. The rear is on the outer roof/near door and the weather strip that's separates the roof. Can you post pictures of your front and rear tower and how they sit on the civic?
