I've attached a few close up pictures.

To answer some questions:

1. I've driven the car for about 8-10 hours an the rubber piece is in pretty good shape, in no way is it melting or has signs of melting.
2. The chrome tips of the exhaust does touch the hitch, but not the the point of being annoyed by it. You could trim the hitch or the exhausts chrome tips to keep it from rubbing.

Hope it helps.

Here is my installation of the Thule freeway 968. Just tried it how it fits, no bikes on it yet.
As you can see you can even open the boot with the rack fitted.

It is not perfect but it should do. Some concerns.

1. The bottom rubber part is not positioned perfectly. I will need to change the license plate holder to something smaller or remove it completely as now either it hits the license plate holder or the bump of the trunk under it. Hope it will not damage anything.

2. The side straps could not catch anywhere else but there. Worried that it can break the rear lights

3. Is it going to hold two adult bikes and a child one or there will be issues?

Thoughts?

I went for the Thule AeroBlades and the ProRide upright bike carrier on the roof. Thule dealer here didn’t find it safe enough for my car to put it on the back. He was concerned about damage to my car.

Bought and installed last week. The aeroblades are amazing and the proride doesn’t really cause much drag. I bought another, second, bike tray used and it did cause a LOT of drag and reduced my fuel economy drastically. But I usually only travel with one bike, so I’m very happy with the kit I bought. I’ll post some photos later today. I’d highly recommend it.

It also didn’t make much noise when roof is closed, and almost no noise when the sunshade is closed. I even kept opening it to make sure the bike and rack were still there, because I couldn’t hear nor feel the rack or drag.

Thule does not guarantee neither the freeway or the aeroblades with the sunroof but I tried both on and they fit.

I opted for the freeway as it costs 110 Euros and just the aeroblades are 260 plus the bike kits it would cost too much for the short distances we are going to use the racks for. I will test first with one bike then with two and see If there is some problem.

I think you have a different sunroof than we do in North America. The roof rack doesn’t come anywhere near our sunroof. I asked the dealer and he confirmed that it would not be an issue.

I don’t have the bike tray on at this very moment, but I haven’t yet taken off the bars.

Check it out.

Indeed. I have the panorama roof which is considerably bigger but when we tried the aeroblades there was no issue. Of course you can not open it so I guess that is why Thule does not recommend it in case someone accidentally opens the roof and breaks it. I was thinking to install the aeroblades and a cargo carrier but I will hold on to it for now

Yeah. I LOVE your pano roof, but I guess mine is a bit more practical when using a roof rack. I can vent and open mine without any problem while the roof rack is on. I have plenty of clearance.

(I’m still jealous of your pano roof, though! Haha!)

I don't like it :) Too much sun coming in even closed. If I had the option not to take it I wouldn't but dealer had available cars only with pano roofs and as I needed to buy a car immediately….

Pano roof is pretty neat. Would've been a nice option for us here in the States.

Yeah I really like my Kuat hitch bike carrier. Kinda bummed I can't use on the Sport. I used to have roof mounted racks and got away from them for the drag issue...plus ease of use of the hitch mounted is so much better.

any new developments here? still seems like not many options. roof racks look like I'm trusting my bike to suction cups or spending 800$ on the ugly bars and mounts, and the trunk mount ones seem iffy.

I'm going to pick up my trek marlin 5 tomorrow, hopefully it fits in the back with only half the seat folded down. because toddler :/

FWIW a 27.5" tire bike with a 15.5" frame will fit with the wheel off without folding the 40% part of the seat down

Exactly. You said what I wanted to say in about 1/100 as many words.

Anyway, since there is apparently some interest, I just threw my Yakima Stick Up and a bike on the back for a test fit. As long as you have the bike on the outboard position, you can still open the hatch with the bike on the car.

Is that one of those Brooks ass hatchets on your bike? I heard they take forever to break in unless you rubbed it down with some kind of endangered animal oil.

I wouldn’t do suction cups on this roof. It’s super flimsy sheet metal. The car wash causes my roof to rumble (my 2008 and 2014 had the same problem). The Aeroblades actually look kind of cool on my car, as they continue the black theme contrasting with the grey (I got a full black Thule set) but I still wish I could have just put a hitch on it.

I too have a Kuat htich rack and am hoping and waiting to buy a Hatchback Sport. I wrote the Honda general manager showing him all the Crosstreks, Ford Focus, and VW Golfs at a bike rally. Many of these owners would love to have the Civic Sport Hatchback but won't because they can't use a hitch. He is presenting the case to Honda, but not to write Curt and others. I may have to buy a CRV, but I really want the Civic.

I just ordered a Draw-Tite hitch and 6" Curt receiver and mod like '2017CivicSport' did. I'm going to notch the hitch, black plastic garnish, and might have to go into the actual steel bumper a little to give me more clearance between the exhaust tips and receiver. If you could bend the pipes down .500", evtend the hangers or rubber mounts, that would give all kinds of clearance and nobody would prob notice.
