Focus ST, Hyundia something like that....
I'm having a hard time seeing exactly what it is.
But by the sounds of it, pretty similar to what I had... 2 spots on my hatch.

Body shop manager ended up bringing 2 bottles outside and got it cleaned up.
Wiped it down and was clean.
I was like... "Hmm, what type of solvent is that?"

PAINT THINNER!
***screams***
Then he took liquid compound and buffed with a microfiber towel!

Uhhh... I cringed so hard!
Honda paint's and CC's are waterbased. What a idiot he is.

Did you dealer have to contact corporate?
They said they have already seen others with the same paint issues so it was quickly on to the next issue, the steering wheel.

The underside of my steering wheel cover had a very tiny, small tear. And the general area around that tear looked stressed, as if it could tear soon in the future as well. They did have to call someone on this issue and whoever they called said it was ok to replace the steering wheel cover under warranty.

I also had a chip on the black plastic trim that goes on the rear driver door on the exterior. I have another thread about this. This could have been caused by rocks but they are fixing that too.

Car has 1000 miles on it. Will get it back in a few days.

So how do they fix this paint issue though? Polish and buff?

I wonder if I have paint issues too. My hatch is silver so I imagine it will be hard to see these spots.

I just purchased my Hatch Sport and I have the same issue. It does not come off. Honda needs to address this. Seems like a very common issue. It almost look like the suctions cups that they use during manufacturing that holds the hood in place while it is being bolted down?

Update from my dealer today. They said they are completely repainting the hood. Unsure what they will do for the other couple spots on the car.

I have the same problem. You can only see it under dim soft light. I have a black color. My little brother 17 Accord, black also, has paint problems too.

Really repainting the hood? So much for the "original paint." I would not settle for that.

Its not gonna be a Maaco job
Yeah I just hate the idea of a re-spray. I wonder if they can remove the clear and just put on a new clear coat? Let me know how it goes, I may have to do it too. I would take it all the way to Honda of America before I settle for a re-spray. Which I might have too. Just give me a new factory painted hood under warranty.

I just found a spot on my silver hatch today. The weird thing is it can only be seen when the paint is wet and in the sun. Otherwise it's invisible. It's located on trunk sill and looks like a running smudge .5x2.5in

Car is under warranty, all paint problems have to be fix for you by the dealer. In replacing body parts with new coatings, that is not happen unless it's damage beyond repair by a shop.

Does it have to be by the same dealer i bought the car from, or can it be another Honda Dealer?
