Hi All,

I've been shopping for new wheels/tires but I have not been able to calculate which tire size I will need for the rims I've chosen.

I am planning to upgrade to the BBK by 27won sometime next year but want to replace my stock 16" rims before then for some 18" Konig Dekagram's.

I have kind of decided on 18" x 8.5" wheels with a 45 offset and a 5-114.3 bolt pattern because I believe it will fit with the BBK kit and I would be getting new tires then anyways. I just do not know what tire size I need (or that I should go with).

I love the Michelin CrossClimate 2's but can't figure out which option to get. I found a wheel to tire conversion site but it wasn't very helpful:

I picked out my tires on America's Tire's website:

I am also trying to get the michelin tires on the same website, but do not know which options to select (or would be best):

Any suggestions would be helpful on what tires/wheels I should be getting.

I have 18s and 235/40 fits well. You should also be able to fit 245/40. Also XL for load size

I agree, 235/40/18 is the move. I have the exact same size wheels, also Konig, with 235/45’s on them and I absolutely hate it. Looks like a truck.
235/40 would’ve been perfect. IMO

I recently went with Superspeed RF03RR for winter wheels (18 x 8.5 + 35, 5x114.3) and my wheel shop recommended and installed Blizzaks in size...

I prefer 245 40 18 for 8.5 inch wheels. 235 is a bit stretched and I don't care for it. I want maximum tread width without looking like a balloon.

235 isn't stretched.

Matter of fact, I'd say 235/40 on an 8.5" is just about perfect for most.

235 mm = 9.25". Definitely rim protection there.

You have a hard on for me huh? Lmao 235 on 8.5 is stretched. If the tread width is narrower than the rim width, it is considered stretched.

Good fitment really varies by tire and offset. Whether someone is lowered matters as well.

My car rubbed with 245/40 at stock height with a mild stretch on 18x9.5

the 235 conti dws06 on my stock wheels look a bit stretched so some tires will def have a stretch on an 8.5" rim.

Your tire choice really depends on your driving conditions. The cross climates are nice but they don't seem to last too too long and are fairly noisy for me. 235/40R18 is the stock size tire for Civics so it's exactly what you're looking for size-wise.

Tire manufacturers give a range of wheel widths for there products. For example a 235/40R18 Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 shows 7.5-9.5. Some choose to go 10inch wide and that would be stretched, so much so that Discount Tire will not mount this tire on a wheel that wide for safety. The mid range 8.5 would be considered squared.

Now that is stretched.

Tire Rack recommended 215/45-18 (DWS06) when I went 18x8 on my EX-L and I really like it. And it's pretty much squared. I know a lot of people like the meatier tire look and that's cool. This slightly "stretched" setup I have stiffens the sidewall a tad and seems to speed up steering transitions.
