I don't use the sunroof much, and have had a Honda dealer lube the tracks once already. now, at 69,000 miles, the sunroof is having problems closing. once opened, using the auto feature to close, it goes halfway then retracts like something is detected in the way ( safety feature ).
have checked visually but cannot see anything. try again, same problem.
try to override auto feature by lightly pressing & releasing switch, same thing happens. have to make multiple open / close attempts before finally fully closed.
am leaving it closed. dealer told me only the switch is covered under the Honda Care extended warranty & any other parts are paid for by vehicle owner. am looking at over $ 1,000 repair bill if tracks and other parts need replacing. had a 2002 civic ex that within a year ( & still under factory warranty ) after new purchase the sunroof malfunctioned & would not close. thankfully, then a manual crank was part of the design to manually hand close. but had to fight with honda to repair the sunroof as per honda only the switch was covered and nothing else. the entire assembly was finally replaced under " goodwill ". the cable had snapped & dealer found out sunroof was installed at factory with bent tracks.
