Finally bit the bullet to upgrade the sound system. I plan on keeping this car for another few years so it is evolving into exactly what I want. As everyone knows the factory sound is adequate but little bass and a lack of brilliance in the highs. This is what I ended up with working with our local shop. Kenwood XR 1703 Reference Series component speakers in the doors. A Kaption 10”powered subwoofer which ‘down fires’ minimizing lost trunk space, a Wavetech Link8 loc and a Kenwood x301-4 amp. The rear speakers are going to be replaced in the future. I can say the sound has vastly improved. I stole the idea for the sub control to be mounted in a switch knockout and it makes for a very clean look. I can say I’m very happy rocking in the car now.

Hey! Is the LOC to clear the signal from the factory head unit? Is so price?
Where in Scotia? I grew up outside of New Glasgow.

Cheers!

Some LOC will have a DSP in them, but the LOC main job is to get a usable signal to the aftermarket amplifier.

You can go all out and get something like a AudioControl DQ-61 that will let you balance each individual channel.

@Rush , Beautiful install. I've never heard of the LOC you got, but it looks high quality. Someday I'll be doing this, but I'm going to be doing a full sound dampening at the same time... The cost of the system and the sound dampening is making it difficult to pull the trigger on doing this job. That and I have no time haha
