Why not just replace it IF it goes out? I mean, a side marker light isn't a big deal. Most people don't even notice them. But I know, they are legally required to cover theirs butts.
The side marker light is one of the many LED lights and is "an assembly" vice a bulb. No details on what's involved but think $$$.

I'm sorry, but you people need to lay off about the third brake light. Get some super glue, fix it, and shut up. If it's that much of a bother to spend a few minutes of time fixing it, just go trade it in for something else. I mean, my god.
I agree and disagree first off having the third bl floppin around can cause at night anyway a cascading effect on the rear window and could cause glare to whoever is behind you that said Super glue it and be done with it apparently that's what you did and I did three months ago and still holding strong

They're called side marker lights.
Here's a self-test you can do at home:

Turn headlights lights on.
Stand on side of car.
Note yellow light at front, red light at rear.
Repeat for other side.
Turn headlights off.
If either red side light is out you'll need to get the LED assembly replaced.

Got my letter yesterday. Was hoping it was the Hanging Cigar Box too.

I'm amazed millions of old cars haven't been crashed because of no side light.

As I new it would be, but I did it anyway for paperwork purposes.
How long did it take, did they replace anything or just checked to see if it was faulty. I had a bad experience with the airbag recall where they left a little nick on my steering wheel.

I was there about 45 minutes, but they were busy too. They didn't change anything. I guess they tested it, or heck, maybe they just looked at it and said "it works". I don't know, I just did it so if something did happen, nobody could say it was my fault because I ignored a recall check. Probably never happen, but still.

Thanks, I'll probably schedule it after I get back from vacation.

Same here.
I have this issue too, they are calling me today to let me know when their glazing specialist will be available to sort it out... it should be under your standard warranty as it is a life safety issue, when the housing falls away from the glass the brake light will reflect off the back glass making visibility reduced when braking, should get no hassles for them to fix this if you are still within your warranty period, I will let you know how it goes once complete. I noted the housing as defective before I bought and to rectify the problem all they used was two sided tape to set it back up, which has already begun to fail, so now they are going to get their epoxy/silicone guy in to deal with it... hopefully with better results.
