Alright here it it! Shout out to Zed for coming out with this awesome plug and play harness. The instructions were on point, no issues at all. So it's been 2 days now and the head unit is running perfect, am/fm is good, reverse camera and the touch screen itself working great. If your looking to upgrade but staying OEM, this is the perfect plug and play.

Hit up Zed with that perfect plug and play harness!

2017 steering wheel controls all work properly with the 2019 head unit? Jut curious. I've been going back and forth about doing this swap or considering some aftermarket route

Ive done the swap. I have a 2017 LX steering wheel using a 2019 head unit. The only button that doesn't work is the "source" button on the left side of the steering wheel. You can install honda hack though and remap the source button to function as something else. (I changed it to show the backup camera lol)

Hello CivicX, I have come up with a wiring harness to upgrade from the 5 inch radio to the 7 inch radio more easily. Previously, those seeking out this DIY would have to look at wiring diagrams, crimp, solder and modify their existing vehicle wiring. This solution allows for mostly plug and play compatibility.

This harness has you covered whether you want to add the reverse camera, AM/FM tuner, or just use the radio without these features.

Includes main wiring harness, AM/FM Tuner to Antenna Cable, and Reverse Wire Cable.

Harnesses are assembled by myself in California.

PM me if you would like to purchase one, depending on how high the demand is, you may be placed on a waitlist.

Thank you for your interest,
-Preston

*Note: There are additional parts required to complete the DIY which are listed below in steps.

When sourcing a radio, you will need to find one that comes with the display, or you can purchase them separately. Make sure the head unit has a built in amplifier. Otherwise there will be no sound output.

Make sure the headunit you source does not have the connector circled below. As you can see in the terminal list, the headunit with this connector is missing audio outputs.

Just installed my stereo, only carplay right now working, mobilistics package for radio harness got lost twice... geez
broke reverse camera cable connector because I was pushing it too hard lol

any tips how to insert it?

but everything else is working as it should, awesome upgrade!!
I got 2019 Sport Sedan 7 inch radio with volume knob
Everything working except source button which I never used in 5 years lol
I put photodon screen protector and didn't remove the protective layer, so screen looks scratched and dirty :) Waiting to finish the install before making it official

Thanks Zed!

Looking forward to hopefully buying one of these harnesses!

I originally put a head unit in my Civic from Amazon and had all kinds of issues with it, this seems like it will be a lot more of a natural fit for the car since the HondaLink is intended to be there.

I will absolutely share my experience and before/after photos if folks are interested

Hello, I have an 2017 sport hatchback. I’ve upgraded the 5 in screen to an aftermarket one. But I’d rather have the Honda oem one. Would this fit? It’s from 2017 civic touring or do I need the one with the knob. Thanks

if you have 5 inch screen, no, it won't work, touring civic has amplifier, you need one without you can get from EX sedan, doesn't matter with or without volume knob, it is personal preference.
PLease see very first message from Zed for details, but from EX and Sport Sedan should work
here few example of what you can buy

Props to zed for the harness! Everything was installed successfully! Highly recommended if you don’t want to mess around with wires! Plug n play.

Another question for anyone that did the swap. Do any vehicle functions (TPMS is one that readily comes to mind) work through the touchscreen head unit or just audio functions? Just genuinely curious.

That's a good question, but tbh I normally just use the headunit for audio and occasionally YouTube. I'll look into it for sure

You can calibrate the TPMS through the headunit. This vehicle is incapable of showing individual tire pressures since the TPMS is of the indirect type if that is what you are looking for. Our cars use wheel speed sensors to detect if a wheel is spinning too fast, which indicated a low tire pressure condition.

Huge shoutout to @Zed for the easy to use harness + instructions! Took me about 45 mins to plug everything together and for it all to work! Hit him up for your 5in to 7in conversion!
