Hello guys I am looking for the above. I have a 2016 LX sedan and i will not be replacing the head unit. My goal is sound quality above all else so I don't care too much how loud the speakers get. I plan on building the sound system over time and I figured I'd start with these two parts of it first. Next will be an amp to power both, DSP, then sub and amp, and finally rear coaxials. I will be buying the tweeter sails from the touring so I can install the tweeters.

If the speakers can run well off of the head unit with room for amp improvement all the better. I also plan to install sound deadening materials throughout the build.

If you have any recommendations aside from the three I'm linking below that you think might fit my wants better please let me know. Below are the three I think fit best from crutchfield.

I appreciate any replies.

I would get the Morel Maximos you linked or the focal RSE-165. I have the RSE-165 and they sound great in my car. I've read from others that the morel maximos are also really good too. I don't think you could go wrong with either

I was amazed at how much better the LX stereo sounded just by adding tweeters in the sail panels.

My budget recommendation would be to add tweeters and a small powered subwoofer first. You'll be surprised, I think. In my opinion, the weakest links in the base OE system are 1) no tweeters up front 2) poor signal processing from the head unit which minimizes bass to the stock speakers 3) see #2, lack of bass.

Somewhere down the list, if you're not concerned about volume, are the actual door speakers. They aren't fantastic, but they aren't the highest priority problem IMHO.

Tweets and a decent small sub, you're in for not too much money and you have a dramatic improvement, even keeping your OE door speakers. I'd replace them after the other parts if I was wanting to not spend too much money at one time and was wanting max bang for the buck in the meantime.

I appreciate your suggestion and I will most definitely be buying tweeters. However, I'm not looking for a budget recommendation overall, or to get a quick fix improvement. I want to build something nice and get a nice sub later on in my build, so I figured I'd start with the front speakers and tweeters. I have a budget of around 200 for those two components but my overall budget will be higher. A powered sub seems like a decent idea but from what I have read they don't cover the really low frequencies.

I'm not trying to sound like an asshole if it's coming off that way, but I want very specific advice for this thread on front speakers that sound great in the civic. Thanks for your reply!

Have you heard Morels in real life? Those RSEs look great too I will add them to my shortlist.

Unfortunately I have not but I've read they have slightly punchier mid bass than the focals. I believe RMS for focals is 60 while morels are 90? I'm still running on my stock amp for focals but plan to run an aftermarket amp in the future.

That's sick! Are the holes in the back door drilled? What kind of civic do you have? Mine doesn't have backdoor speakers :)

i have the 2017 Civic Hatchback Sport, the coax speaker was in the rear doors, i did change them to MB Quart components, when i dook the door cover off, there was a spot where the factory tweeter would go on the EX and above models, just took the 1" hole saw and drilled it out in the factory space. im going to assume that if you don't have rear door speakers then you have the sedan with the speakers in the rear deck shelf.

I see. Yes I don't have the rears, but I'm going to work with it and just have coaxials in the rear.

Thanks for the response!

What that guy said was right in the sense that whichever speakers you get, they're not gonna be playing at their full potential considering the signal (or input) they get is crap.

Deepak, are you running an amp with your MB Quart, if you have an amp you using a DSP?
I LOVED the old school MB Quart and Diamond audio but I am not sure if they are still making quality speakers.

As of right now im running them on the android head unit power, they sound great but need extra power, i have the MB quart ZA2-1500.5, its a 5 channel amp to power these 2 sets of components and the 5th channel for my 8 inch kicker L7, i dont have a DSP right now, maybe getting one in the future, Amp and sub will be installed within a week, just waiting for it to get a little warmer in NJ
