Stock(215/50R17) Since the facelift version is running a 18” on stock, it gave a passion in trying upsizing to 18” for a gain in aesthetic at the same time, after running a 18”x8jj (235/40R18) for a period of time recently , fuel economy is worsening, steering response isn’t as good. Probably better grips on high speed? I am realising our town’s potholes / road conditions are pretty bad and what I’m opt for is a lighter pickup + more comfortable ride. Anybody running a affermarket 16” or 17” light wheels on either high or low profile tyres , and may shed some light on this topic for me? I’m running a Ktuner Base Map Stage 2 btw. Thank you.

I went with these in 17" and there was a noticable improvement in ride quality over the stock 18" set. Chose 245 width tires though, and grippier compound so I might have gotten a bit worse mileage. Wanted to get RPF1s but decided they weren't worth the extra money at the time, and I've since decided I like the look of the Motegis better.

Tq A good site to see the outlook on aftermarket wheels. This looks abit close to Gram Lights, Yea RPF1 is light & I saw SSR type c is kinda as light too. Are you running 40 or 45 then? How about your lowend torque with that wide tyres compared to your previous 18”, Is there noticeable gain?

45 series tire, but between the stock tires being terrible, the new ones having great traction just by having a better compound (BF Goodrich Comp2 A/S+), and getting a ktuner around the same time, I couldn't tell you how much difference the tread width made. I honestly doubt I'd be able to tell the difference between 245 and 235 in the same tire, but switching tires with the exact same size can be a dramatic change.

I see you went from a 215 to a 235, that's a bigger change than my 235 to 245.

Stock 215/50? Being terrible as in loss of grips and stability ? Me from 215/50/17 to 225/45/18 to 235/40/18. For me as a 8jj, finding 225/45/18 acceptable , 235 being abit heavier, are you running base or custom tune ? I can see your car’s pretty grippy, probably some huge numbers and mods there huh? 😬

I meant that the stock Goodyear tires my car came with were terrible, the compound seemed very hard and had little traction. If I went to the new size with the same model of tire, it would still be very hard with little traction. If I went to a good tire like the BFGs or a Continental DWS06, no matter what size they were, it would be a tremendous difference.

I actually don't have a lot of modifications, I'm on stock Si suspension and brakes- the tire compound by itself did most of what I wanted, and the Phearable off the shelf tune gave me all the power I need. Might do a stiffer rear sway bar in the future, but that's about it.

Ah interesting, the stock came with which spec of Goodyear? Eagle sport or?A stiff ride is hard sometimes .. our stock came with Continental MC5. I find majority of our civician here opt for Michelin Pilot Sport series which offers the best in many aspects.
That’s good to hear, as long as you’re satisfied with your current drivability. Don’t you add the front strut bar or is it an obstacle for you? I saw some mods of rear sway bar, bigger and thicker in size & quality, indeed that contributes a lot in cornering & stability, swaying was greatly reduced too, I haven’t go into these mods yet.

I don't remember, it's been posted on the forum here a few times by people complaining about them, but I got rid of them as quickly as I could. Michelin PS4 were a bit more expensive than the BFGs I got, and from what I was reading in TireRack reviews, they were better in dry weather and a bit worse in the rain. We get a lot of rain where I live, so that was the deciding factor.

Unfortunately they stopped making the BFGs in any size I could use, so I'll end up on either the PS4 all season, or the DWS06. Undecided between those so far.

yeah more expensive goes to Michelin PS4, I think Primacy 4 is fine for people who opt for comfort and quiet. Aww that’s too bad for the BFGs.. I saw quite an excellent ratings for the DWS06, but unfortunately for our country here instead, there’s kinda some complaints against the Continental. Drivability is okay but probably just the quality? I’m not sure, haven’t get into trying one Yet, for I’m targeting Goodyear Eagle F1 sport next probably

I’m running:

Bronze Konig Ampliform
17x9 +40

Michelin PS4
215/50/17

the difference in weight was crazy from my stock wheels. Slight stretch but I’ve had no issues on this setup. Zero rub. Almost a year with it.

how many lbs weight reduction compared to the stock? In the way of the broader width does your acceleration affected? Slight stretch but still looking great from the rear, simple& clean, on a d2 spring?

About 9lbs lighter per wheel. I only notice the weight reduction when I really get on the gas (tires slip).

I have D2 springs along with rear camber kit to tie the back in together. I am not a fan of the camber look.

This car is my daily so I didn’t want to go super aggressive with my setup. I have zero rub/zero trimming. I love it.
